selenay: (Tara - lovely)
Somehow last night's genius plan to have an early night last night after all the rushing around didn't work as intended. I took my sleepy tea, watched a bit of TV and went to bed. The sleepy tea did it's thing but for some reason I fought it so that I could read and when I finally turned out the light, I was no longer sleepy.

Note to self: do better tonight.

Peking Pork Bites were a big success and I am glad that I had some on Saturday night because they were all gone by the time I got to the table at the pot luck. They were so amazing that I shall be treating myself to the rest on Sunday and crowing happily about having them all for me, me, me.

Why do I suspect that Sunday is not going to work out like that? Perhaps it is experience. My plans never work out as I hope, particularly when they involve me getting to eat delicious food in peace.

There were other things that I was going to say, but they have departed. Like the wind. Or something.

As for this week's Robin Hood...

Whatever has gone wrong with my shoulder obviously needs looking at by a doctor, I admit it. The dratted thing went out again yesterday morning at around 10.45am (I know because that's when I left for church and it went from fine to ouch in the space of ten seconds) and it's still very painful today. I'm managing it better this time - mobilisation and heat packs - so it's not yet reached crippling stage, but it's bloody painful and I definitely cannot drive now.

Bugger.

I'm also tired because there was no comfortable position to sleep in last night and therefore I haven't had much sleep. As soon as the office opens, I'm calling to get an appointment with my doctor. I'll work out how to get there when I have an appointment. She'll probably tell me to see my specialist, but at least I'll know whether it's worth bothering the specialist then and she might be able to give me something to take the edge off and get some sleep when it goes out.

Hey, ho, live is always interesting with hypermobility!

The weekend was productive and fun, despite not getting to see my aunt on Saturday. The stuffed mushrooms need some experimentation to get them right, but I have a mushroom left over so I think that will be Wednesday's supper :-) I think a bit less cooking time and a bit more stilton might be the way to go. Adding a bit of sour cream to the juices that cook out an drizzling that over the mushrooms is definitely a fine plan. Recipe will be posted when I've got it right :-)

I got 2,000 words done on my Tardis Big Bang fic, which makes me very happy, and there was also some rather excellent weekend TV.

Cut for spoilers, primarily Robin Hood )

I think that I'll put it all under a spoiler cut, just in case anyone on my f-list hasn't seen Robin Hood yet.

I am very happy that Larkrise will be back, having finally seen the season finale yesterday. It's all golden and summery and lovely, so great Sunday night viewing.

Also, I must now live without Time Team until next year. Poo. I like my archaeology show, especially the episodes where what they find isn't what they thought they'd fine. It's worth it just for Phil's ability to find flint at every site.

I had been wonderging what I'd watch on Sundays without Time Team and Larkrise (because there is nothing worth watching on TV here on Sundays - why??), but now I've discovered that there is RH and No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency to watch and thus my problems are solved for a few weeks :-)

A lady at my church has invited me to her place for supper on Easter Sunday. She didn't like the idea of me not having family to go to :-) On the one hand it sounds like a blast so I've said yes, OTOH I realised as I drove home from church that the Doctor Who special is airing that day. I shall be good and not back out just because of a TV show.

Even if it is Doctor Who.

Cut for SJA spoilers for those who are still to watch their videos )

In my half dazed state this morning, I could have sworn that I saw a promo trailer for Robin Hood just before the 5.30am news. Can anyone confirm that I'm not actually hallucinating and I'll be getting more Much and Sir Guy goodness soon?
selenay: (Captain Jack fan)
Urf. I'm back. Flight was fine and the house feels very empty. Work is better than expected considering how long I was away (and the number of emails to contend with!), but rather depressing after two weeks of holiday.

And I'm missing my aunt and Canada dreadfully.

After unpacking, shopping, washing clothes and having a nap yesterday, I watched the first three episodes of Robin Hood. It's very daft, overblown and silly. I'm liking it very much :-)

I was also able to watch Torchwood last night to which my only current thought it SQUEE! Hopefully more coherent thoughts will be appearing later.

Feel free to spoil (but not next week's episodes) in the comments - readers beware.
