It is entirely possible that I slept for too long this morning. No alarm set so didn't wake up at anything approaching a sensible time. I now have a headache that just won't quite, even with liberal doses of painkillers, coffee and chocolate. Hmm.

This just in: [livejournal.com profile] terrylbirch has arrived in Egypt safely and her phone now apparently deigns to recognise my number again :-)

Con report behind the cut )

I am home from the con, exhausted but very happy :-))))) This was a great con. I'd say that it was despite Michael Shanks' cancellation, but in some ways I can't help wondering whether it would have been the same kind of con with him. It's certainly a con that proves you don't need a lead actor to have a good con - the guests were all very entertaining and I'd see any of them again. The big success for me was David Nykl - if you see him on a con guest list, buy a ticket. Very funny, energetic man. I think that [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42 and I have been converted into being Zelenka fans *g*

All of the guests were entertaining, but Dan Shea was the other one who really stood out. I'm always fanscinated by the process of filming and writing episodes, so hearing from a behind the scenes guy was terrific.

I'm now starting to wobble a little on the "not going to Peg One" front, but I'll be waiting to see what guests are announced before making any kind of commitment. PA and I have a list of guests that would be our trigger spots for booking - basically, if anyone on that list books then we'll have a serious discussion and probably end up going. Damn, these conventions play hell with my resistance to temptation.

As always, the best part of the convention was the fans - meeting everyone that I know, meeting some people that I haven't met before (hello [livejournal.com profile] nicci_mac!) and just enjoying the fun and community that builds up at these things. The worst part was coming home and rejoining the real world :-(

I'll have the full account later, hopefully tomorrow, with photos and stories. Right now I'm exhausted and must finish downloading the music vids that were recced to me over the weekend before finding some supper and last week's Stargate.

*flibble*

Eep, I should be out of the door in ten minutes for breakfast with Terry, G, Saz and Annie...but am I even remotely packed?

Yah!

Well, I'll be gone until Monday at SG10. No Michael Shanks, but with nineteen of my fellow FDAS and SG fans, who cares? It's gonna be fab :-) The camera appears to be sorted right now - Da recharged the batteries and the camera appears to be working - so I'm taking that rather than risking mother's camera at a con. I'll be picking up some spare batteries and a disposable camera in town, just in case the thing decides to die anyway.

Just gotta get my tickets and find my suitcase...

Argh!!

Things you don't want to have happen the night before a convention: your camera to develop a fault.

Ack!

It's beautiful and has worked perfectly for twenty months, but tonight it decides to die *sigh* Looks like I'm going to be calling customer services either tomorrow or Monday. And borrowing mother's camera for the con.

I am now bowed, though. I'm going to grab my stuff, pop over to [livejournal.com profile] terrylbirch and wait for G, Saz and co. This con is going to be brilliant, camera or no.

Badges for SG10 are finished. Yay! Laminated while watching Atlantis and put them onto black ribbon while watching Law and Order. I really know how to have fun evenings *g*

Are we nearly there yet?

Chortle...

Am I the only Brit that's having a silent chortle at Blunkett 'resigning' today? Thought not :-)

I admire the man for overcoming his disabilities in such an amazing way, but don't like his politics and I think he's an idiot for thinking that he could get away with such a major breech of ethics and parliamentary regulations. His career has to be over now - nobody can be forced to resign from the Cabinet twice in one year and expect to return again!

This new 'My LJ' thing is rather...hmm...Probably gonna be handy. I think. I like the idea of being able to quickly insert piccies rather than uploading them to my webspace and relying on my ability to remember a URL correctly.

Got lots to do before tomorrow evening and not enough time to do it in. I think that I'll be laminating badges during Atlantis tonight. Still, can't help bouncing about SG-10 :-)
