So I watched the first episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures last night. It wasn't as good as the pilot promised, but it was fun and I will be tuning in next week.
It's definitely aimed at a much younger audience than Doctor Who was, which is a shame because the character of Sarah Jane can't be quite as well-rounded as I would have liked. This may just be a flaw of the first episode, though.
They've replaced Maria's friend (can't remember her name) with a new character called Clyde, which meant that some of the episode had to introduce him and push him to the discovery of aliens. I do like the relationship between Clyde and Luke, though (not in that way, though, people!). There definitely needs to be more SJ on the screen :-)
Possibly the flaw in the episode was using the Slitheen as the first bad guys. They're rather a one-note villian and, although I'm sure that adults think kids always find farts funning, I know that kids can cope with more complex villains. Hopefully they'll be coming up with new and interesting aliens as the series goes on.
The preview of next week's episode looked good so I will be returning. It does seem to be the rule that the really good episodes of DW and Torchwood don't happen until you're a few episodes in, so if that holds true then this could be a good little series.
In my half dazed state this morning, I could have sworn that I saw a promo trailer for Robin Hood just before the 5.30am news. Can anyone confirm that I'm not actually hallucinating and I'll be getting more Much and Sir Guy goodness soon?

As long as it's not Robin that we're getting excited about, I think that we'll be fine :-)

I would agree but I checked there this morning, saw the half-nekkid Allan icon and dislocated something seriously hormonal. Owwie. Tis an evil evil bad bad naughty place... I fear I'll have to sign up, imminently.

Date: 2007-09-30 05:10 pm (UTC)It's definitely the worst mental image to torture yourself with - shift Sir Guy's wardrobe to earthtones, switch the studs with lacing, give that boy a bow n' arrow and he's got it. *wibble* He could even keep the eyeliner.
*zips mouth* I'm not going to encourage you but...
It's too late for encouragement. *hangs head n' weeps* I reached my limit sometime yesterday afternoon. There're just some things in high res. that a girl shouldn't look at and expect to remain a sane satellite on the fringes of fandom goof-offery... O.O
