Today I have watched a very embarrassing rugby game (why am I still an England fan?), done a bit of pottering around in some shops and knitted an entire sleeve for the baby cardigan.

The best bit about today is that my neck is feeling better. It's still twinging uncomfortably at the end of my range of movement, but at least I can move my head reasonably well without pain. This also meant that I got some sleep last night, thank god.

My sister is a lovely person and brought home the most indulgent, calorific, chocolately insane gateau I've ever seen from Patisserie Valerie for my Mum's birthday. It's gorgeous. Possibly one slice equals the recommended caloric intake for a week, but it's soooo good. She even brought vegan chocolate cake for my father. I was too crippled by neck pain to do anything useful in that area this year :-( Woe. And next year I won't be here to do anything. Woe again.

Still, lovely cake :-)

My hands are now stiffening up from excessive knitting, but do I care? Of course not! We're going out for Thai food for Mum's birthday and then coming home to watch movies and eat more evil cake. I may switch to crocheting the edge of my blanket while I watch, due to the excessive knitting issue. Or I may just spend the evening lying in a Thai-food-and-chocolate-cake included coma *bfg*

Went out for dinner with The Girls to celebrate a birthday. Fantastic
meal at a great Thai place with lovely company - great evening.

Downside?

Rolling in close to midnight and then having to get up at 5.20am today. Waaah!!

I'd made a solemn vow that I'd be home at a sensible time and not get
totally exhausted. That apparently went out of the window at some
stage, but I was having such a good evening that I failed to notice
how late it was getting. Oops *g*

Tonight I'm out with [livejournal.com profile] terrylbirch, [livejournal.com profile] yragg and
[livejournal.com profile] sazzle_02, although it won't be a late one 'cos they're
off to watch a band at a pub later and I need to get some sleep
because...

I'm going to London Film and Comic Con with [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42 on Saturday where a certain Rachel Luttrel
will be signing and doing a talk. Um. I'm going to have to set Doctor
Who up to record in case I don't get home in time. Being the huge
spoiler phobe that I am, I've avoided looking at most of the DW
communities this week just in case I see the huge honking spoiler
that's going around. I'm determined that whatever happens will come as
a surprise, even if it's a traumatic surprise. It was a fab plan last
year, had me glued to the box, so this year I'm trying for a repeat
*g*

On Sunday we're having a BBQ to celebrate Canada Day a day late, due
to LFCC, weddings and other impediments. Life is just a social whirl
at the moment!

My aunt returns to Canada tomorrow and that's making me sad :-( I'm going to miss her and I can't help feeling bad because I haven't really been at my best during this trip. I really wish that the back and hips hadn't reached quite the state they have because it meant that I was often feeling utterly crapped out a lot of the time rather than being happy, bubbly and able to enjoy people's company. Bleh.

But I'm enjoying the remaining time. She and my mom are currently out visiting someone for an hour and during the break I've been putting together a CD of photos for her. We've helped her sort out which kind of computer she'll need so that she can order it without fear and hopefully we'll all be emailing back and forth in no time.

Mostly today has been a lazy day. Tonight we're having a sending off meal at the Thai restaurant, a food type that we have introduced to my aunt and she's already a big fan :-) Tomorrow she jets back to Canada, but we've managed to talk her into another trip maybe next year so it's not too bad. And I'll see her when I go over for a visit in October.

Can't believe that this week has flown by so fast. I'm not ready for the holiday thing to end!
