The latest round of TARDIS Big Bang is now complete (must go and see what was missing) and, just in time for my holiday, they're all now available in .mobi and .epub for ebook readers. Woo!

I've been downloading the ones that are available on AO3 in .mobi and those have worked really well, but now I can get everything else.

So far, the ones that I've read have been excellent. Currently reading Noble Pursuits, which all Donna fans should glomp onto immediately.

I love portable fanfic :-)

The first draft of my TARDIS Big Bang fic is in with a few hours to spare. Phew! At 21,712 words (predicted to go up after beta-ing), it's also comfortably over the word minimum.

Now I have six weeks to get it beta'd and re-worked. Eeeep!

Two questions for the knowledgeable people on my f-list:

1) I re-watched Battlefield yesterday and I was sure that I heard the Doctor tell Ace that they were three years in her future. Am I crazy? Is there a transcript out there that I can check?

2) Would a subordinate officer address Brigadier Bambera as "ma'am", "sir", or "Brigadier"?

I really do love Battlefield.

Oh, dear

Busy busy day. Very glad to be home and on my way to bed.

Well, it wasn't too bad in the running around sense. Just in the prolonged period of time with other humans sense. It was nice, but maybe next Easter I'll try having a quiet day?

Anyway.

Someone needs to either say "yes, this is a brilliant idea" or talk me out of it. My Big Bang fic has not yet reached the entrance of the Doctor (it's very Bambera-centric) although there are definite hints that he's around. I'd been planning to use the Ninth Doctor because I think he'll fit well in this story, except Rose doesn't work in it and I couldn't figure out how to get rid of her convincingly. She's a little, er, clingy. Mostly I wanted Nine's joy and excitement at things without Ten's darker, more jaded moments.

Now I've seen the Eleventh Doctor and Amy in action and I think they'll both slot in beautifully. In fact, I think they'll be a hugely fun combo with Bambera.

Either this is brilliant or I'm insane. After all, by the time I start writing them I'll only have watched a couple of their stories and Moffat could totally screw with my plans.

OTOH, I could set it very early in their adventures where there are more gaps and more 'getting to know you' type stuff to play with. Hence less chance of Moffat Jossing me.

Opinions? Am I crazy to contemplate this?

OK, it's only 400 words. But that's 400 more words that I've written for quite a while and it was on my Big Bang fic, so that's a good thing. I'm aiming for 25,000 words. The idea has the potential, it's my ability to actually write it that I'm currently doubting!

In other news, I committed baking yesterday. Mmm, cheese straws.

And today I am committing slow cooker ribs. It's the weekend, I'm treating myself :-D

Also, I have this week's extra Holby City. An entire episode of Connie (after so many months of Connie drought) makes me ridiculously happy. Holby just isn't right without the great Mrs B.

[livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang sign-ups opened today - hooray!

I've signed up with my Bambera vs fairies fic. Before I put out the request to a wider audience on the comm, is there anyone on my f-list who would be happy to do beta work on a 30,000 word (or more) fic featuring Bambera, Nine and impossible mythological beings? Final deadline is July 5th, so I'll be looking to get this beta'd late May/early June.

Last year my two non-flist betas both flaked out on me (without even replying to emails - eep!) so I'm appealing here first before going to the comm. You guys are much less flakey :-)

So, now I need to pull out the 500 words I wrote in November and work out what I was planning to do with this fic...

ETA: Got one beta lined up (yay!) but would love a second, even if you're just doing a final sense check read-through to pick up stuff that PA and I have missed on.
