My spinal column has decided to be an evil bastard today. I've taken the first dose of extra painkillers for the day, washed down with health giving water and lovely chocolate. Caffiene boosts the effectiveness of painkillers, you know.

To cheer me up, mother just emailed me to say that a parcel has arrived at her office for me. There are two possible things it could be:

Doctor Who: The Beginnings boxset (on pre-order from Amazon, released today...)
Remaining part of my Bravissimo order (a lovely chocolate brown tunic)

Either option is possible and will give me great joy :-) I'm leaning towards DW at the moment, despite the lack of dispatch notice from Amazon, because Amazon ocassionally forgets to send dispatch notes and this is the release data for the DVDs. This would make me a very happy DW fan because it includes Castrovalva and Logopolis, two of my favourite old school DW episodes. I suspect that this is due to the gratuitous maths pr0n and the fact that it's Peter Davison's first appearance and he will always by My Doctor.

But the new tunic would be just as cool.

Still hoping it's DW, though.

Also, I watched Dr McKay and Mrs Miller last night, at last, and it was totally squeeful. And I now know who Kate Hewlett is so I can join in the squee at Peg 2!

ETA: Parcel is from Bravissimo. So pretty new tunic :-) In plenty of time for Peg 2 so I now have some presentable clothes for cons!

I've finally emailed Wolf Events about disability information for Peg 2. Not sure whether I feel happy or sad about that - on the one hand I'll enjoy the con more if I'm not hurting but on the other it's using the concept of disability and me in one email. Hmmm.

Still, I've explained about the back and hip, mentioned the hypermobility, remembered that [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42 could be termed my carer for the purposes of it and sent the email. Hopefully I haven't left it too late :-) I'll see what the response is and whether there's something else that I have to do as well. With any luck, [livejournal.com profile] sazzle02 won't have to watch me struggle around on a walking stick and frown at me from her place of glory at the front of the stage :-)

In news of walking sticks, I am off to London on Saturday with my parents. Among other delights (Da and I are conspiring to get some time in Foyles for good behaviour) we'll be going to a walking stick shop to purchase something more attractive than the current black contraption. So I might be the girl at Peg 2 with a beautifully patterned walking stick! We will also be meeting my little sis for lunch at a good veggie place that Mom's been raving about for month. I've been promised sweet potato fries :-)

It's very weird to realise that Peg 2 is less than four weeks away. I've got the receipt for my ticket (hopefully Wolf will be announcing how they'll handle registration soon...), the confirmation for the hotel and I'm starting to consider how many camera batteries I'll need. With Redemption at the end of Feb, it's going to be a busy few weeks.

As I mentioned yesterday, today we go travelling starting with a ferry trip from Digby to St John, New Brunswick.

Or that was the plan. We've got rather high winds which means the ferry crossing will be very bumpy. I have no problems with that, but my father gets sea-sick on water that's barely moving so he'll be thoroughly miserable. We've decided to take the land route instead through the mountain pass. It's not quite as convenient, but at least Da won't be throwing up for several hours!

In honour of the long car journey ahead of me, I slipped getting out of the bath this morning. I'm rather bruised down my left side and have jarred my back. Go me! So I'm now stuffing painkillers into my travel bag, just in case.

But my iPod is loaded with audiobooks (including Doctor Who and some fics by [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock, I've got plenty of snacks and my aunt has leant my a nice little lap blanket. So I'm all set and shall enjoy my days on the road. Back Wednesday, so I'll update my travels then.
