So, the network is back. But they wiped all of yesterday's work from the servers. And the mail server is running slower than a disabled snail and has reinstated all the crap that we deleted yesterday.

But the best bit is losing all of the work yesterday. Essentially, I now have to redo around six hours of work just to be back at the place where I left yesterday. Can anyone point out why I should have bothered to come in yesterday?

I believe that's what happened *sigh* Apparently we could put in a work order to track down the lost stuff, but it would take fourteen days minimum and it's faster just to waste a day redoing everything. I printed out a couple of the data tables that I'd created so I can put them more or less back in place, but a lot of stuff (including a ton of con) has gone into the ether, never to be seen again.

Nope, we are not amused. One guy is leaving today and he's brought a ton of food in. It's sitting next to my desk and I'm failing to resist. At least I can blame IT for the pounds that I put on today :-)

Ah, now that's strange, choosing to only recover stuff on request - implies they have the data somewhere. Depends *where* of course... Not that I want to know, I have enough trouble with this stuff anyway!

Yeah, we picked up on that. And became even less amused by the entire thing. If they have the data, couldn't they just restore it? I am baffled.

But I have redone the work. It took most of the day, but it's done. And I can do new stuff tomorrow *sigh*
