I've been in a grumpy funk for the last week or so, which sucks, and I haven't been able to pull myself out of it. This morning the radio was playing a bunch of make-Sel-happy tunes (Meatloaf!) and I actually sang along and felt pretty cheerful when I got to work. The plan today is told hold onto that cheerful feeling and try not to sink back into the grump funk.

So I'm trying to find things that I'm happy about to discuss today :-D

Apparently Captain America 2 has started filming and they've released info that says we're getting a bigger role for Natasha and Peggy is back. Woot!

I'm pretty excited about this film now. Natasha, Peggy, the Winter Soldier, Falcon...it's looking pretty sweet.

Together with the trailers I've seen for Iron Man 3 (Pepper!) and the info I've seen on Thor 2 (more Sif! more Darcy!), Marvel is doing exceedingly well right now at creating films I want to see. And as Joss is helming Avengers 2 and has a lot of influence on the SHIELD TV show, I'm feeling pretty confident and happy that we're getting some excellent stuff from Marvel for a long time. The new synopsis for the TV show (I'm surprisingly OK with the new title - Marvel's Agents of SHIELD at least won't be confused with The Shield) sounds very promising and I'm going to be shocked if ABC doesn't pick it up.

Well done, Marvel, you're doing a rather excellent job of creating things with plenty of appeal for all the genders. Take note, DC.

On the comics front, I'm officially a Marvel girl. Not just because I love the various Avengers lines, but also because lines like Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, and Fearless Defenders are amazing as well. I started out reading some DC lines but I've dropped pretty much all of them :-( Marvel's lines are a lot more fun and I don't get ragey over the treatment of their female characters.

*sigh*

Anyway, I got the email from my local comic shop about what's being released this week and realised that around three-quarters of my pull list comes out tomorrow. Definitely making a trip to the city on Saturday to pick that up! I've been reading the Age of Ultron book and I'm intrigued to see what the tie-in issue of Avengers Assemble will be like.

I suspect Saturday afternoon will be spent with big pot of tea and my lovely new comics. Heh.

Yay Marvel! Which as you know is so weird for me, being a DC girl all my life (well, a Wonder Woman girl, but mox nix). But I've had the same reaction: the DC titles just do nothing for me. Not the art or the stories or the characters. Then there is Marvel with Hawkeye and Captain Marvel just to start -- I haven't picked up Age of Ultron but I'm reading Secret Avengers which is fun.

It's nice to have comics that I enjoy and am not just suffering through for the sake of completion. :P

I got the first issue of Avengers Assemble and bailed. :( But it just referenced so many story lines from previous titles that I honestly had no f-ing clue what was going on; the writing was good, yes, and I liked the art well enough but ugh, plot WTF. *gestures in frustration* Everyone seems to love it and I feel left out! wah.
