So, it turns out that our oven is kind of insane and decided to randomly reset itself to factory settings, which is why it was no longer heating correctly because its temperature whatsit was confused and not the way that we'd set up.

Yeah, no, I didn't understand it when Mum explained. But she showed me how to fix it and promised the repair guys didn't laugh too much. It also turns out that we've been misusing one setting for the last two years because nowhere in the instruction manual did it tell us that you need to press the convection button twice in order to have the elements working that will actually brown things.

Helpful. Real helpful. GE, you may want to include that information in your manual.

Apparently Mum will be baking today so we'll get to see whether this works.

I am somewhat inappropriately excited about getting the first issue of the new Hawkeye comic today. Sadly, I must wait until I get home to hop onto Comixology. Woecakes.

There are two people standing in my office trying to fix things who are supposed to be on vacation. Thank goodness I'm no longer on that team. Apparently August is going to be a bitch.

I'm supposed to be driving down to Sidmouth Folk Week today. I've already been in to the office this morning to sort something out (and to pick up some new glasses on the way past, it wasn't a totally special trip). Now I'm awaiting a call back from some finance software support people who have full admin rights to the server their stuff is on so I don't know what they think it is they can't do. Much longer and I'm going to have to put off going away until tomorrow which is just a whole world of irritation, only some of which is invoice-able.
