Podcast suggestions?

I've learned to really enjoy podcasts in the two years (two and a half? already?) that I've had my iPod, but I'm finding that some of the podcasts that I've been listening to regularly aren't holding my interest. At the same time, I'm struggling to find anything new to replace them with that also hold my interest.

In Our Time, Pottercast and BBC Radio 4's Friday night comedy slot are the keepers. I'm loving the Now Show even more than I love the News Quiz.

However, the rest are probably going and so I need some suggestions for replacements. Regular readers will probably be able to guess what might interest me and I'm happy to take some left of field recommendations, too. Anyone got favourite podcasts that they might like to throw my way?

This is important because right now I'm hopeful that Saturday afternoon might be warm enough for me to sit outside with a blanket, the iPod and some knitting so a good podcast would be wonderful to get me through 10cm of tunic.

Do you know neadods? I know she was posting about podcasts recently. She's also a knitter.

I think I've got a podcast tag, but off the top of my head:

Staggering Stories is THE best. Ever.

DWO and Tin Dog are good for Who news.

Stick & String and Cast On are my two favorite knitting podcasts, although I find them a bit rambly.

I'll have a dig around for those. I think that I've already put Cast On onto the iPod to try this weekend, but there are a lot of knitting podcasts out there and I wasn't sure which one were the really good ones to try.

I've been looking for a good DW podcast. Podshock annoyed the heck out of me so I've retired that one - managed to listen to two and it didn't get any better.

There are a lot of knitting podcasts out there, and to tell the truth, I'm not completely happy with any of them. But if you go back through my podcast tag, you'll see the ones I dumped and why I dumped them.

Staggering Stories is *fab.* A little bit about all kinds of SF, on both sides of the pond, a lot about Doctor Who. And with a woman on cast, it doesn't have Podshock's "No Grlz Aloud" sign on the clubhouse.

I think so. Depends a lot on whether it's up as a podcast or not. The BBC is odd about what they make available sometimes. What's good on BBC 7?

The Mitch Benn Podcast (he doesn't update often but he did read A Christmas Carol, complete, around Christmas)

Stephen Fry's PODGRAMS (not that he updates often either)
Thinking Allowed

For you, unless they're on your cull list I perhaps would recommend you try the first and last of those.

Then let us know what you end up with in case there's something we're missing out on!

Friday Night Comedy and In Our Time both survived the cull :-) So I've taken your first and last recommendations to see how they are. I'm also looking up Mitch Benn because I so enjoy him on the Now Show. Thank you!

Er, six months after you gave it to her it finally made it's way to me :-) I stupidly listened to it while doing other things, rather than in the car, so did not take it in (or Mitch Benn's genius, really) and then it got put into a packing box. I am unearthing it now to put in the car tomorrow :-)
