I've learned to really enjoy podcasts in the two years (two and a half? already?) that I've had my iPod, but I'm finding that some of the podcasts that I've been listening to regularly aren't holding my interest. At the same time, I'm struggling to find anything new to replace them with that also hold my interest.

In Our Time, Pottercast and BBC Radio 4's Friday night comedy slot are the keepers. I'm loving the Now Show even more than I love the News Quiz.

However, the rest are probably going and so I need some suggestions for replacements. Regular readers will probably be able to guess what might interest me and I'm happy to take some left of field recommendations, too. Anyone got favourite podcasts that they might like to throw my way?

This is important because right now I'm hopeful that Saturday afternoon might be warm enough for me to sit outside with a blanket, the iPod and some knitting so a good podcast would be wonderful to get me through 10cm of tunic.

Do you know [livejournal.com profile] neadods? I know she was posting about podcasts recently. She's also a knitter.

You're welcome. If you don't have her on your flist, you probably should. :)

One of the more recent quiz shows on Radio 4 is 'The Unbelievable Truth'. You might also like 'Old Harry's Game'.

I present it as information rather than necessarily recommendation, since I don't know what you're culling but I currently have:

A Prairie Home Companion's News from Lake Wobegon
Broadcasting House
the Friday Night Comedy
In Our Time
The Mitch Benn Podcast (he doesn't update often but he did read A Christmas Carol, complete, around Christmas)
Radio 4 Choice
Stephen Fry's PODGRAMS (not that he updates often either)
Thinking Allowed

For you, unless they're on your cull list I perhaps would recommend you try the first and last of those.

Then let us know what you end up with in case there's something we're missing out on!

Ah, okay. There's also a programme that Melvin Bragg does on a Thursday morning (I think it's called 'In Our Time'. Do you have that one on your list?

Tx

Please, why did no one tell me how good he is when he was at Eastercon last year?

Did you actually get the CD I gave your sister to pass on to you while she was working at CoLF ages ago? There were a good few tracks of his on there...

Enjoy ;-)

Not quite sure why there's so much of the Spooky Men on there now as it goes. The other thing I can't remember if I told you after a discussion at the airport when you left is David Gunson. It may come back to you when you Google the name. :-)

You spoke my name and I am here, bwahahaaa *ahem*

I think I've got a podcast tag, but off the top of my head:

Staggering Stories is THE best. Ever.

DWO and Tin Dog are good for Who news.

Stick & String and Cast On are my two favorite knitting podcasts, although I find them a bit rambly.

There are a lot of knitting podcasts out there, and to tell the truth, I'm not completely happy with any of them. But if you go back through my podcast tag, you'll see the ones I dumped and why I dumped them.

Staggering Stories is *fab.* A little bit about all kinds of SF, on both sides of the pond, a lot about Doctor Who. And with a woman on cast, it doesn't have Podshock's "No Grlz Aloud" sign on the clubhouse.
