Selenay's Ramblings

I'm on a re-reading The Last Herald Mage kick again at the moment and it's got me thinking about how my view of the books has changed over the years.

Well, that turned into a longer piece of babble than I'd expected.

So, first episode of Robin of Sherwood down and I now understand why munchinknott and others were squeeing over it. Heh.

Also, I can completely see why Mercedes Lackey used Michael Praed as her mental image of Vanyel. It's like watching Vanyel, only in green with a Maid Marion fetish rather than in white with a Stefen thing. I watched Robin when I was a kid (um, why did my parents let me watch that?), but hadn't really put all of this together until watching it today as an adult. I'm sure that the covers of the Vanyel books helped me with that mental image, but...um...wow. And it's finally done for my image of Frail!Vanyel - if she was using MP as her image, then Vanyel is slender, yet beautifully toned and wiry and absolutely not frail. I would, however, not feel at all guilty about using the word 'beautiful' in connection to him. Masculine beauty, but still definitely fitting the word.

Sadly, there is no Stefen comparitor here. Darn. Wonder who ML based his image on?

Possibly this is a good thing. I'd be mentally slashing Robin with the Stefen-look-alike rather than following the canon Maid Marion thing.

Although I might have spotted sparkage between Robin and Little John.
