A weekendy updatey thing
Jul. 9th, 2006 07:57 pmThis weekend I have been...mostly asleep. Er. Everything seemed to catch up with me, including a "helping out on the shop floor for an hour" session on Friday afternoon sprung on me with no warning (why can I never just say no to those things?) and I have been unable to keep my eyes open for large chunks of the weekend.
I did manage to be awake to watch Doctor Who yesterday, though :-)) Anyone who wants to babble at me in comments about it feel free - I am going to attempt a proper review tomorrow. Suffice to say, give the people BAFTAs and Emmys for the acting in the final ten minutes and I adore snarky Daleks :-)
Today I managed to be awake for lunch with friends, although the planned picnic did not go ahead due to weather and I should have been using my walking stick. Oops.
And I've decided to take a more pro-active approach to this job hunt thing. Agencies suck totally and are worse than useless, so I've gone over my CV (again) and it will be getting printed up on good quality paper at Da's office tomorrow. I will then proceed to write letters and send out speculative queries to as many web design and marketing companies as I can find in the local area. I've been alternately amazed by the standard of the work lots of these companies are doing (plenty that I'd really love to work for) and stunned by the absolutely abysmal websites of a few of them. Really, if you're doing webdesign, print work and marketing as your thing then your website should actually look as though you know what you're doing! But that's a rant for another day :-)
And so my weekend has been mostly wasted in sleep, but I have at least done a few useful things so I don't feel totally guilty. Just mildly guilty :-)
