Fun thing this morning - turning on the computer to discover that someone had altered my monitor and the visible area of screen had shifted an inch and a half left. In other words, big area of black down one side, missing start button the other. I had to look like an idiot and request help from Da Boss to reset it.

Yesterday, I discovered that someone had increased the entire screen resolution. A colleague was using my computer on Monday and was dissatisfied with my settings. He did, thankfully, also set the fonts larger so that I won't get a headache attempting to read teeny type.

But that's not the point!

Grrr.

OK, so the display looks better now and I can still read it, but it's a little annoying to walk in after one day away to find half my equipment reset to his preferences. It's taken me ages to get my chair back to something approaching comfortable.

I think that I'm being whiny and unreasonable.

So I'll get back to my really big piece of development work and stop procrastinating.

That's so annoying! It's generally accepted that if you go away you won't come back with the same number of pens you started with. But you don't go adjusting other people's computers, just for a day, you make do.

Pens are nickable and easily replaced.

Especially as the stationery cupboard's not exactly far away. Which is just as well because I can lose pens without even leaving my desk.

We did have a thing awhile back of people coming back to find they had no scissors and no-one else having an extra one, or even one more than they started with. There are no spare scissors in the stationery cupboard, hence it being a big thing. I'm still upset because I don't like my new scissors as much as the old ones :)

I often find people come over to talk to me about something, find the need to draw a diagram, then walk off with the pen. Or bring a pen and forget it was theirs.

The only part of our desks that lock is our drawers. I can't even remember exactly what's in mine, apart from tissues and biscuits. And I'm not sure where the keys are. I'm sure if someone breaks in that won't be the first thing they'll go for anyway.
