Daffy things make me smile
Jan. 7th, 2006 06:59 pmWe braved snow, a faulty car requiring a last minute swap to a different car, fog and other nasties to get to this morning's tutorial and it was a productive, useful session. Tutor is lovely and we have fun while learning stuff - someone commented that our corner seems to be the fun corner because we're always laughing *g* The tutor just emailed Mom, Da and I to thank us for coming to the tutorial and noting that we all seem ahead of the class, but don't worry - it gets more challenging later. How lucky we are!
Little does she know that I'm currently at the end stages of doing six weeks work in six hours so that I can do my assignment tomorrow :-) Um, yes, I'm really far ahead...
Also yesterday I had the weekly one-to-one with my boss. No problems. The funny bit was sitting in the canteen, waiting for him to buy some coffees, and looking around at the boxes of plants lining the walls above our heads. During the Christmas party, the catering folks gave us these baloons that you blow up and then release to whistle around everyone's heads making rude noises. The plant boxes are now liberally decorated with the remains of these baloons...
...so it looks like our canteen is decorated with multi-colour condoms *snort*
Had Chinese take out last night. Good Chinese. So why am I still craving mushroom friend rice and prawn crackers?

We always have those at Rotaract Conferences, they are so cool. Although for some reason it always takes me the whole night to blow one up!

Date: 2006-01-08 03:50 pm (UTC)Well, snow really works better when it's 1-3C rather than below freezing. Says the Canadian mother in the household. So we got several hours of snow that failed to settle before turning into rain. Today we just had rain because it's starting to warm up a little.
I think the reason that I've not had much snow is that it's been too cold on the days when the rest of the country got blanketed or too warm. Darn.
Wish the snow had settled, though.

Date: 2006-01-09 07:31 pm (UTC)I was going to say that's ridiculous, but then I remembered that it rains when the relative humidity reaches about 106%, which is also ridiculous, but due to the impurities in the water. Being as it's not actual pure water :)
I didn't think it got as cold as 1-3 degrees on Saturday though.

Date: 2006-01-10 10:12 am (UTC)The whole snow temperature thing is confusing, but I have it on authority from the Canadian that it needs to be cold but not too cold to snow. And that it needs to have been freezing (literally) for several days for the ground to be cold enough for snow to settle.
