First, the important stuff:

Midnight
Rated G
Pairing: Teyla/Weir
It's after midnight and she can't sleep
Sequel to 'Dream Lover'

Shorter than I'd planned, but it seemed to work better this way. And the next one is going to be longer, just because of the things that are happening *eg*

I am feeling much happier than I did yesterday. Still got a little low-level anxiety, but nothing close to the black depression that I had yesterday morning. I spent the afternoon reading fanfic, fiddling with the Teyla/Weir thing and then ordering in Chinese before going to the cinema for Pride and Prejudice with my uncle.

Very good film. Obviously it had to compress a lot to fit into the two hour slot, but they covered the important stuff and most of the actors convinced me in their roles. I was particularly impressed with Donald Sutherland as Mr. Bennet. He usually plays evil or psycho characters, but he got the nuances and subtleties of Mr. Benner perfectly.

The only downer that I could find is how much of Jane Austen's wonderful words had to be cut or changed. Her wit and word usage is one of the real joys of this book and it's why the BBC adaptation was so brilliantly done. However, I can understand why those changes were needed and enjoyed every minute of this film.

Today has been a quiet day. The parents are returning so I did a bit of cleaning before toddling over to T's to discuss maps and geography for Under Green Hills. We worked out some very cool stuff and I was reassured that I haven't written myself into any holes yet. The afternoon proved, again, the very different approaches we have to writing. I tend to make decisions based primarily on the requirements of the story, symbology and practicality be damned. T gets caught up in all of those details so her stories are deeply layered with it, but sometimes gets too caughts up and fails to actually finish the story. We discovered that some of my arbitrary decisions work out surprisingly well on layers beyond what I'd initially considered. Also helpfully, she asks questions that make me think about things that I wouldn't have really considered or would have fudged over. The information may still not make it into the fic, but it needs to be thought about even so.

And now the parents are back. On the one hand, I was enjoying the privacy and quiet of having the house to myself. On the other hand, Da hugged me the moment he got in the door and that just felt wonderful. I try to pride myself on being independent and not needing them, but even when I finally get to leave home, I don't think that I'll want to be too far from them. They drive me up the wall, Mom is scary, Da is a workaholic, but they have some good points, too.
