*twitch* Ah, the stupid
Aug. 17th, 2005 04:09 pmNutty colleage struck again. Ack! All she had to do was turn the damned computer on...
NC: *turns monitor on* My computer is broken.
Sel: *looks at computer terminal* You might need to turn the box on.
NC: But I usually just have to turn on this. *points to monitor power switch*
Sel: *bites tongue* Just try the button with the power sign.
NC: *presses button* It's still broken.
Sel: *looks at computer, which is now displaying the HP start up screen* Nope, it's working. That's the start-up screen.
NC: It doesn't normally do that.
Sel: It should.
NC: Maybe if I turn it off and on again it will work properly. *turns monitor off and on*
Sel: *bites tongue*
NC: *points to login screen* See, that fixed it.
Sel: *draws blood*
She's trying to send me insane. It's the only explanation. The reason why she got so confused? She usually doesn't turn off the computer - she just logs out (I dearly hope) and turns off the monitor. Last night someone logged out for her and turned it off. Cue the confusion. Ack!

Date: 2005-08-23 04:56 pm (UTC)They're think clients - in other words, they have enough memory to start and find the network and that's it. All files have to be stored on the network, all programs have to be loaded on the network (wonderful - on busy day it's great fun to type two sentences and watch Word attempt to keep up) and everything is disabled so they're idiot proof. Well, nearly. Nutty Colleague still manages to fox them *sigh*
