The Untamed episodes 30 and 31

Well, that was a thoroughly traumatic pair of episodes.

Not so much the first one, because a lot of it was more lovely Yilling farm stuff and I'm delighted by all the Yiling farm scenes.

And Jiang Cheng and Yanli visiting was just beautiful. Yanli is too perfect, I love her. Jiang Cheng is so confusing at times, but I think partially that's because he's confused. He's got all of these sibling feels, but he's also got so much pressure to be clan leader, and it all ends up being a mess in his head that comes out as annoyance and anger.

Yanli is just kind and mothering to everyone. I loved her giving Wen Ning a little bowl of soup because he's also WWX's friend.

(I've just realised how much worse that makes Wen Ning killing Jin Zixuan. Noooooo.)

And then Wen Ning took the soup home for A Yuan, because he's lovely (when he's not accidentally turning into a scary Ghost General, nooooooo).

WWX's determination that he can plant and grow lotuses was both lovely and very sad, because he misses his home and his family so much, but he also loves the new home and family he's made. It's such a huge conflict because he can't have both and he knows which one needs him more. But he's still sad and missing the home and family he can't have.

He's also sad and missing LWJ a lot, which shouldn't make me happy because IT'S SAD, but it does. I'm terrible.

Yes, WWX, we did notice that you named your nephew after your boyfriend. You are not subtle, WWX.

I did totally love WWX messing with his fanboys. He's such a delight :D

And then we skipped a year and the baby is born and...

On the one hand, LWJ still thinks of WWX at all the important moments and is trying to make sure he gets to see his nephew. That's absolutely lovely and LWJ the best. On the other hand, I knew it was going to go horribly wrong but I didn't know how horribly wrong it would go.

I've changed my mind. I'm not just a tiny bit suspicious of Jin Guangyao, I'm a *lot* suspicious and also I have a distinct urge to hiss at him every time he smiles. I'm about 99% certain he engineered everything terrible that happened. I don't like Jin Guangshan much better, because he's also using this whole thing as a chance to engineer a lot of awful things. Except it ended up with his (legitimate) son dead, which wasn't in his plan, so that's backfired on him spectacularly.

I'm not entirely sure why Wen Ning killed Jin Zixuan, but my best guess is that he wasn't entirely in control of his anger/consciousness and he thought Jin Zixuan was a threat? Maybe? And they were back in the place where he was "killed", which didn't help his control much, and it all went very very wrong. That scene was awful.

And the scene where Yanli discovered he'd died was worse. And her grieving scene. Look, I didn't like Jin Zixuan much, but I love Yanli and therefore his death *hurts*.

And then there was the Wens saying goodbye to WWX and trying to make sure he didn't follow them and give himself in and...I was definitely a mess. It was all too sad. And WWX is too sad.

I thought it was just going to be Wen Ning and Wen Qing giving themselves in, but it looks like it was all the Wens? What happened to A Yuan? IS THE BABY OKAY?

hockeybosh told me that the next two need to be watched as a double-bill, which is why I didn't continue on last night. I think I'm going to need all the comfort food and hot chocolate in the world to get through these, because I sense it can only get worse from here. I'm not even going to try to predict what happens, except that it's going to end up with WWX falling off a cliff and even though I've known this was coming, it's going to hurt.

It's going to hurt so much.

I am very much Team Wouldn't Trust Jin Guangyao As Far As I Could Throw Him. Apart from anything, he seems to be the person who most directly benefits from the deaths of Jin Zixuan and Jin Zixuan *and* he was the person who knew about the curse that had been put on Jin Zixuan.

Comfort food and hot chocolate are definitely required for the next two. (I am spending my weekend binge-watching and knitting, so I watched both of them today.)

Yeah, this is what makes me so suspicious of him! He keeps landing on his feet in a better position than he had before, and he benefits more than anyone else from all these machinations.

I survived the next two episodes. Just.

It is! I really haven't been dealing well with it! The only thing that helped was being told that this is the worst part and things genuinely don't get this bad again.
