The Untamed episodes 11 to 12

I commented to hockeybosh that I'm relieved WWX found Lan Zhan again at the end of episode 11 because I'm less worried now, and it turns out that she was *more* worried at this point. For me, I know that someone is there to look out fo Lan Zhan and try to share the load of all the awful things that are happening.

She noted that WWX is now going to try to shield Lan Zhan and get himself hurt in the process.

Which happens about five minutes into episode 12, so she's not wrong, but somehow I'm still less worried? Maybe because I know Lan Zhan isn't going to let WWX get hurt worse than he is - a problem shared is a problem halved. Er. I'm sure there's logic here somewhere.

Anyway, these two episodes were all about "how can it possibly get worse, oh look they found a way" and it's very stressful. Particularly when Nie Huaisang is right there with them and he's really not suited to all this misery and pain.

Watching the Cloud Recesses get destroyed was not easy, watching Lan Zhan give himself up to save the remaining disciples was worse. Watching him try to pretend he's totally fine WALKING ON A BROKEN LEG was awful. Why must they hurt you?

Wen Ning is such a lovely character, I adore him completely. Helping WWX get through the night with the giant scary evil dog was so good, except now I'm worried about him because he's eventually get noticed for do something kind and selfless, isn't he?

WWX defying the Wens by reciting the Lan house rules (he memorised them! Sweetie!) was both great and awful, because I knew it would mean he'd get punished worse than any of the others. Why is he so goofy and loveable, while also being brave to the point of self-destruction?

No wonder Lan Zhan has got that tiny hint of star-struck adoration whenever he lets his expression crack slightly. No wonder Jiang Cheng is constantly worrying over him.

And now they're off monster-hunting without their swords, so this can't possibly go wrong, can it? *frets*

Yeah WWX is just so self sacrificing that it makes me worry when there's opportunity for him to do that 😬 and LZ wanting to suffer in silence and deal with himself arghhhhh

I realised I wasn't following you here when I saw your tweets about the Untamed, I watched it at the start of lockdown and I wish I'd recorded my feelings at the time!

I agree Wen Ning is endlessly precious and not knowing how he gets from here to where we see him first was a BIG source of tension for me.

Also I love my angry grape son a lot, I hope you come to love him a bit too.

I regretted not recording my feelings when I watched Guardian, so I decided not to make the same mistake again!

I have! He's priggish and irritated and angry at everything, but it clearly comes from a place of worry and therefore I'm getting very fond of him. It's making me deeply concerned about what's coming because I can't imagine what would make him abandon WWX and shove him off that cliff.
