I did the scary thing - new MacBook

I did it. I bought a MacBook Pro. Eeeep!

I’m torn between excitement and terror at spending all that money, even though I’ve actually had the money saved up for a while so it’s not like this is an expense that’s going to kill my savings. I’ve specifically been saving for it, outside my regular savings. It’s just more than I usually spend on a computer, but hopefully the investment will pay off.

Thank you for all the buying advice. I’ve learned so many unexpected tips, too, about things to use it with and apps to get for it. It’s made me feel much more comfortable with this choice.

It arrives on Monday. I need to think of a good name for it :-)

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good password manager?

Good luck with the new tech and the naming thereof!

I use KeePassX and am quite happy with it. I think KeePass is up to a version 2 or something on Windows, and I would think it probably has a Mac version as well...?

Some podcasters I've been listening to for years recommended LastPass for tracking passwords (and one of them is a sys admin, so I'm guessing he has some basis for judging such things). I'm currently trying it out now, because my previous system has been reusing the same password as many places as possible and storing userids and passwords in my Gmail when I'm forced to use something different.
