On the up side, I no longer have a wisdom tooth that was in danger of causing an abscess! On the downside, it feels like they took my mouth apart to remove it and I'm still feeling pretty gross.

Apparently it was stubborn. It took forty-five minutes to remove it. I was starting to come out of the sedation towards the end, so I remember the surgeon saying that there was still one bit to get out and it was being really difficult. Plus some discussion about needing another/some more stitches, which he didn't seem happy about. From this (and the way the nurse swore when she saw my x-ray before the procedure), I'm guessing that they had probably did have to practically take my mouth apart to get the damn thing out.

It certainly feels like they did. Ow. Also, so many stitches inside my mouth :-(

Let's hope the other bottom one never ever has to come out.


I've spent the last few days curled up in my recliner with the TV. I got through the second half of S3 of the Good Wife, which was excellent. And the first four episodes of Orphan Black, also excellent.

And, um, the first half of S5 of Supernatural. Wow, that show is batshit and weird and I can't stop watching it, help.

(If anyone has any good Destiel fic recs, I'm all ears. And eyes.)

I haven't got a huge amount of reading done, which is pretty much what I expected. Every time I tried to read, I fell asleep. Today I'm working from home, because there's only so long I can feel comfortable declaring myself sick due to a tooth removal, so hopefully I'll stay awake all day. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Heh, I think it's a natural occurrence for a writer to have a disorganized brain.

I'm not sure who I know that writes Destiel. Maybe Vera DragonMuse? I know she does prompts with them, but can't recall if she's got anything longer than a couple thousand words. I'd have to go over my author subscriptions, and that would be easier at home...sorry!

My wisdom teeth weren't in quite that bad a condition, but the one impacted one had ruined the neighboring molar, so that the dentist who referred me to the oral surgeon (and wanted to take out my other three wisdom teeth herself -- in two separate visits) wanted to do a root canal on it. I let it slide because it wasn't hurting me (though either the back of it had been completely ruined by the decay pocket caused by the wisdom tooth, or else the surgeon broke the back off it while getting the wisdom tooth out), until some years later when the corner broke off and then the huge filling in the top fell out a few hours later and I wound up having the remaining stub pulled. Anyway. That's the only corner of my mouth that was at all complicated (and I made sure to have the oral surgeon take care of the other three wisdom teeth at the same time, because I'd heard too many horror stories from people who were awake and aware as the dentist did awful things getting those teeth out).

Destiel recs, hmm. I know I probably have a goodly number of stories saved, but right off the top of my head I can't think of any really good ones. seperis is finishing up the second story of an epic, and though I haven't taken the time to read them yet, she tends to be worth reading. (She's probably got some recs on her AO3 page, too -- same username.)

Yeah, they wanted to get this one our before it could ruin the molar next to it or cause an abscess. It was badly impacted and only a matter of time. I figured that getting it out now would be better than having it done as an emergency thing with infection in place. Hopefully the molar will be okay now that the wisdom tooth barging into it is gone. I've heard so many horror stories about emergency dental work that I really didn't want to get into that kind of thing.

We discussed taking the other bottom wisdom tooth at the same time, but my surgeon didn't want to take the risk with my other conditions. Hopefully it never causes an issue.

Oooh, I've dl'd seperis's fic to my Kindle to read, thank you :-) She doesn't have any recs on AO3, but that's still one more fic than I had :-D

My sister's had an abscess or two. I count myself very lucky to have avoided anything like that (though in part it's due to the ridiculously thorough job of brushing I've done ever since having three cavities dealt with my senior year of high school, and being warned the one of them was verging on needing a root canal).

Okay, on checking my folder, I recommend browsing the works of [Bad username or site: Annie D (scaramouche) @ archiveofourown.org] and also Astolat, especially "Old Country" which IIRC is a fantastic crossover with Harry Potter (though no Castiel involved, but it's just a phenomenal SPN story). ETA: On checking, Astolat is doing Sam/Dean, but "Old Country" is fantastic anyway, and I don't recall actual smut. Sam and Dean go to Hogwarts, years late.

Yeah, I've heard terrible things about root canals and abscesses, so I really wanted to avoid that. As I'm on immunosuppressants, I figure abscesses would be a Very Bad Plan for me.

I've found Annie D and dl'd a few things, thank you :-) Wincest isn't my thing, even though Astolat is usually one of my go-to awesome authors.

That doesn't sound nice at all, you have my sympathy. I thought wisdom tooth removals weren't that bad, on the basis that the worst thing about mine was the bruising on my hand.

The Ghosts in the Machine this is a Christmas Carol-type fic and I honestly can't remember much about the tone but I really enjoyed it when I read it.

Peanut-Butter Pumpkin Wedding Cake REALLY CUTE AU. Dean and Sam get hired to help with the wedding, except the guy who is apparently the groom is super hot and clicking with Dean like woah.

Customer Service AU where Cas works in retail and Dean spends a lot of time shopping for stuff because his little bro is getting married.

Start quoting Shakespeare and we're done AU where Cas is a hot librarian and Dean is a hot mechanic and they're awkwardly interested in each other.

The Girlfriend Experience One of the Destiel classics. Set in canon, Dean starts teaching Castiel about sex and relationship and realises a little too late that they're in one.

Cas + Dean 4eva So, this is a fic where Dean gets trolled, there are unexpected victims, and feelings all over the place. Set within canon.

It's always the end of the world somewhere High school AU! Dean is on the football team and Cas is awkward and off-kilter and gets beat up some. There's gorgeous fanart to go with this one.

Jars of Earth Croat-verse fic! Ahhh, I love this one because it breaks me apart. Castiel is increasingly bizarre, and Dean has all the problems faced with loving someone who seems to be increasingly out of touch with reality.

Ruffled - a tale of saving graces Tangled AU! Castiel lives in a tower, Chuck is a moody charmeleon, Sam is a horse, and Dean... is a diamond in the rough, I guess.

Public Enemy #1 Set in-canon-ish. The thing about killing the devil, is that someone still has to rule hell.
