Iron Man 3 (brief spoilertastic reaction)
May. 3rd, 2013 10:22 pmI just got home and I'm buzzed and exhausted so actual thoughtful thoughts will have to wait until tomorrow. Briefly:
- EEEEEEEEEE!
- Also, EEEEEEEEEEE!
- How much do I love Pepper? Thiiiiiiis freaking much!
- Not only was Pepper doing some quality Tony saving from early in the film (why do I find Pepper in the suit so damn hot?), she was the one who pretty much saved the day at the end as well. So much Pepper love.
- I firmly believe that when Tony said "I am Iron Man" at the end, his 'Clean Slate' protocol meant 'destroy the suits, time to make a new final awesome version'.
- Also, my headcanon is that the bot he drove away with at the end was Dummy and he's going to spend the next few weeks repairing Dummy and putting him back together and then giving him a gold party dunces hat. OK?
- Th entire theatre lost it at the Mandarin/Trevor reveal, so brilliant.
- Finally, best post-credit sequence EVER.
Uh, you may have guessed that I rather loved it a lot and I'm already planning another viewing next week with my regular movie buddy because it will be needed to absorb all the awesome I missed.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
ALL OF THIS HOLY MOLY, oh myfuckingghod, it was fantastic! Christine and I are going again on Sunday to rewatch. FOR SCIENCE, YO!
I just love it all, from Pepper who really does save the day to Rhodey being the awesome buddy to those fantastic scenes between Tony and that kid, and OMG the Mandarin! I heard spoilers about that before I saw the movie and was kind of, "that's stupid, what were they thinking?" but JFC Kingsley knocked it out of the park, he MADE IT HAPPEN and wow, I bought it!
And OH BRUCE!
"I don't have the--"
"Time?"
"Temperament."
AHAHAHAHAHAAAAA

Date: 2013-05-04 04:14 pm (UTC)I've already got a date with my regular movie bud for a repeat viewing next weekend. FOR SCIENCE.

I KNOW. I managed to avoid this spoiler so I had NO IDEA and Kingsley was amazing. I don't think anyone else could have pulled that plot line off, I really don't. It was bloody genius and made a whole ton more sense than having everything being done by another crazy Bin Laden-esque terrorist. That was a really smart plotline, well done everyone.
Sadly, I was the only person in the theatre who laughed at the line about Trevor being the only terrorist from Croydon. It's...I guess it was a joke that only make sense to people with extensive knowledge of England and it's geography.
"Temperament."
AHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
That just...utterly brilliant :-D I'm always torn between being a Tony/Pepper shipper (because I genuinely enjoy how that's being written) and being a Tony/Bruce shipper. That post-credit sequence made my Tony/Bruce shipper heart so damn happy :-D Best post-credit sequence yet.
Does that mean Bruce didn't end up leaving the country and is currently set up somewhere in the Stark Tower being "not that kind of doctor" just like Tony promised? Heh :-D

Date: 2013-05-04 04:25 pm (UTC)And YES clearly Tony has managed to keep Bruce
as his favorite pet scientist as his friend at the Tower, and oh how that makes me SO HAPPY.
One thing I really loved by that scene was how RDJ played the vulnerability of Tony; when he was accusing Bruce of not having time for him, he really looked hurt by the idea. The whole thing was played for a joke, of course, but RDJ really managed to convey how important Bruce's friendship is to him in that, what, one minute scene? Brilliant.
OH I NEED TO SEE THIS AGAIN SO BADLY IT HURTS

Date: 2013-05-04 04:42 pm (UTC)This is 100% me. I don't feel like there's anything I can or want to add so I don't have any interest in them as the focus of a fic. Love seeing them as a pair in the background of fics because I love getting that acknowledgement that they're *there*, but it's not a pairing I need fic *about*.
OTOH, I adore science bros so damn much, I read a lot of that. (and should write more, you think?)
YOU SHOULD TOTALLY WRITE MORE.
RDJ really managed to convey how important Bruce's friendship is to him in that, what, one minute scene?
That was the genius of that scene - so much conveyed through such a small moment. I *adored* it.
