Quick thoughts because I'm exhausted, but I needed to jot things down.

First, it has to be mentioned: CLARA FOUND THE SWIMMING POOL! It's been mentioned ever since the original series, I'm so happy we got to see it on this magical mystery tour of the TARDIS.

My one disappointment was not finding the Cloister Garden. Not even a peak? Boo :-(

But I did love that libary, it more than made up for that. How gorgeous was that? How much did I love the idea of an enyclopedia kept in a series of bottles? And a History of the Time War might have been one of the most "OMG EEE!" moments of the night. Particularly followed up with that scene between Clara and the Doctor just before he reset everything. As soon as she mentioned hat she knew his name I knew it had to get reset, but it was still possibly one of my favourite moments. I'm so curious about everything now, but particularly her reaction when she was reading the book.

"So that's why."

I want to know. I really do.

Anyway, I was mildly confused right at the beginning but the end made everything make sense so I'm not going to fault it there. The Doctor has got to learn about this whole "taking down the shields" thing one day, surely? I mean, it never goes well. Every time he does it, he ends up with ridiculous things like salvage ships and intergalactic Titanics invading his ship.

The salvage team plot seemed initially to be a bit predictable, a bit ordinary for Doctor Who. Until all the weirdness started, anyway. You knew they'd try to steal important stuff and the TARDIS (I like to think Idris is still in there) would throw a tantrum and do nasty things to them. At first I thought the zombie things were the TARDIS growing a new defense system, I should have known it would be more complex than that.

May I just say that they got evencreepier when I knew what they were, not less? Ugh, full body ick shivers here.

I liked seeing the Doctor's crib and Amy's belongings and so forth, but I was a little disappointed there wasn't anything from earlier companions. I kept waiting to see Ace's baseball bat or a glimpse of one of the other companions' bedrooms. We even saw a few of them over the years so that would have been nice, but I guess they couldn't do that and the TARDIS has been reconfigured a few times now. Still, it would have been nice.

In the scene where the salvage guy breaks into the console and starts hearing voices, I really need to hear that a few times. I caught some bits that I recognised (Ten and Nine's voices most noticeably) but I'm sure there was a lot I missed out on. Hopefully someone will put together a transcript eventually? Because I'd love to know whether they slipped in some old school references there, it would be a shame to do an entire episode about journeying through the TARDIS without taking that chance once.

Anyway, yes, I enjoyed this episdoe a lot. Not quite the series highlight that last week's episode was, but still one of the top ones from this season and so many things I need to think about.

Next week's trailer looks good. I adore any episode that gets those characters together again (I'd happily watch an entire spin-off of Vastra, Jenny and Strax being awesome) so it should be fun. Mark Gatiss's episodes don't always work for me, but I have high hopes for this one because of the characters in it.
