I'm not kidding, I really need a Clara-and-the-Doctor icon :-D Anyway, here there be spoilers!

I'm not even going to consider hunting down reviews for this because I'm pretty sure there will be as many "WTF? Hated it!" responses as there are squees.

For the record, I am firmly on the squee side :-D

Also, every time I see Matt Smith's face in the credits I make this ridiculous happy noise because oh, my heart, it's such a lovely call back to the credits I grew up with and I can't help loving it. OK? For some reason, that little touch always makes me inclined to feel generous to everything.

So. Possibly my favourite exchange was the one where Clara and the Doctor are discussing the big angry god

D: Fought bigger.
Clara: Really?
D: Are you kidding? That thing is massive!

It was just so adorable and funny and *them*. Hah!

The entire thing was about memories and where we come from and how important that is and it's something I love. My heart broke a little as the Doctor went back to see Clara's parents meet and follow her childhood. With another companion it might be creepy, but with Clara and her impossibility it's something else. Something lovely and also a little scary and dark. Because she's impossible and the Doctor knows it and I think a little part of him is scared.

Maybe that's why he hasn't given her a key yet? He was so eager to give Victorian Clara a key but he didn't know she was Oswin and this Clara as well at that point. It's such a big sign of his trust in a companion and I don't think he trusts Clara. Which is sad but also understandable - she's impossible and I'm getting so intrigued now.

I'm loving the fact that Clara isn't just swanning off and roaming the universe without a care for what she's left behind. It's a new thing for a companion and I'm enjoying it, enjoying the caution she's showing even though she's so excited about all of it. That moment where Clara explains about forgetting every book you've ever read when you get asked what your favourite book is? I've done that so I know how that feels. It made complete sense in the context of what the Doctor was asking.

Given all the possibilities, how could you narrow it down to one time and place to visit?

The main story of the episode was lovely. Maybe slightly cheesy with the big mass singing at the end but I quite loved the beauty of it. In fact, I kept getting caught up with the idea of the singing and how beautiful it all was and forgetting that they were trying to make a huge soul eating god stop being evil. Oops.

And the eventual resolution of a life not lived is, in some ways, an old trick but I didn't mind because it was done so well. Clara made me feel it and the expression on the Doctor's face gave me shivers.

Clara, who are you?

The speech the Doctor gave where he referenced all the big plots of the modern DW era plus a few of the older stories made me so squeeful. One of the things I love about Moffat's era is that he keeps making those subtle references to the older episodes. It's something RTD did so rarely and Moffat just keeps doing almost every week.

In conclusion, I love it and I'm feeling so happy and fannish about Doctor Who right now :-D

I so, so, so agree. I adoring most of the Moffat Who-niverse and was really endeared to Clara by the end of Saturday's episode. Sacrilege I know, but I don't find I'm currently missing The Ponds.
