Mah hairs! Are short!
Sep. 21st, 2012 01:35 pmI did it.
Last night, I actually got my hair cut and it's, er, quite different from my usual look. I've now got a very short pixie cut, with just enough length on top to do the spiky, tousled look that I've been adoring on a lot of people lately.
I love it so much :-D I may feel differently when I have to wash and style it for the first time tomorrow, but my hairdresser gave me a run-through of what to do and it seems pretty easy.
She's also shown me how to give it a smoother, less funky look for when I need to do the sophisticated thing. But I think that I'll be doing the tousled thing most of the time. Mainly because it actually takes advantage of my double-crown and its intense desire never to ever lie flat :-D
I can even do a faux-hawk if I really want to. That's something I may have to experiment with, heh heh.
I also spent some time browsing in Gap, identifying some tops and a couple of cardigans that I like. Plus a really cute purple jacket. I need some new trousers for work because mine have reached the stage where they just can't be tailored to my size anymore (stupid weight loss) and I think that I'll be going for some cords rather than another set of dress trousers that need masses of adjustment to fit me. Tonight I may be browsing shoes because I need new boots.
Next weekend, there may be epic clothes shopping. I'm promising myself a treat of some kind if I come out of the stores with two pairs of trousers, two cardigans and a couple of shirts. Those are the bare minimum of what needs replacing *sigh*
Still, I'm looking at it as funky new hair means that I need funky new clothes to match.
This weekend was going to involve a big trip down the coast. Thanks to the massive rain storm that is supposed to continue until Sunday, it will now mainly involve hiding indoors. We may venture out for lunch at the local amazing cafe and I horrified Dad by gleefully declaring that this is an awesome plan because I can have breakfast for lunch (French toast, maple syrup, BACON) because we're adults and we're allowed to do that stuff.
Apparently Dad hadn't noticed previously that adults can eat breakfast for dinner and cake for breakfast. It's like I opened an entirely new world to him.
Anyway, other than that my plans involve making soup (which I will have all the ingredients for this time, damn it) and getting started on the Marvel Big Bang edits. I'm hoping to have chapters 1 and 2 done by the end of the weekend.
Final draft is due one month from today. I can do this!

Date: 2012-09-22 01:24 am (UTC)At least I've been moderately productive this week - Five Kisses needs some major editing (parts four and six lost the funny, must insert funny and possibly coherence) but the first draft is done and I have half of the hat fic done.
Working title for the hat fic is "The SHIELD Bike Rally". The hats are actually only a tiny plot point :-D
I'm still trying to make myself feel less intimidated by the whole MBB editing thing, I can tell *sigh*
