Well, the good news is that my cousin will be going to university in the autumn. Phew! She got the grades we expected so her first choice wouldn't take her. I think there was some panic there because the media was reporting a busier-than-normal clearing system by then. However, my cousin managed to talk to her second choice university and they have agreed to take her.

So very relieved. My cousin and her parents liked the university and the course when they went earlier in the year so it's a good thing. She'll be doing a language degree rather than language and business (which is what she would have done at her first choice), but I think that may actually be more helpful. She'll be able to concentrate on getting fluent in one or possibly two European languages (including a year in a foreign country to really get fluent) and hopefully pick up some courses in the basics of other languages as well. Basically, this is a good thing and thank goodness she doesn't have to go through clearing. Grades were down this year so from the sounds of things a lot of people didn't get their offer grades *sigh*

On the less happy front, my Kate cat has decided to take after her human mum in the wrong way: she has inflammatory bowel disease. Just like her human mum. IDEK.

So, antibiotics for a week (the same stuff they give to Crohn's patients, just to rub in the connection!) and a special diet that is less strain on her bowl to get the inflammation to settle. We're going back in a month to review her progress.

We are treating this as rather hilarious. Particularly as we apparently decided to flare at the same time :-D

Now when she's being yowly and grouchy, my main thought will be "I know that feel, cat".

This household, man. What is up with all of us?

She also has a cavity. So when her bowl has settled, she gets the fun of a tooth extraction. Kate is proving to be a very expensive cat this month. And I can't feel annoyed because I know that she probably doesn't feel great.

Annie spent most of yesterday telling Kate off because she was gone for an hour and came back smelling wrong. I have no idea how Annie will react to Kate being gone for a day for her tooth!

Cats. Why do we put up with them?

Right, the cuddles.

ETA: Bowel, not bowl. Jeez, you'd think I could manage to spell a word that I spend so much time writing down and discussing with medical professionals.

That's good news. And a relief.

Poor Kate though. *squishes you and kitty*

Bloody hell. O.o Tbh, that sounds like her actual As were better than the people with 'real' A-Levels they'd given conditional places to.

I have a mate who lectures at one of the local unis and schools inflating projections is a major problem. Basically, last year she agreed 20 students in-principle at interview stage and NONE OF THEM will be starting in October as their actual scores don't meet the minimum grade for the course. When I had a babble with her yesterday morning she was contemplating drowning herself in a bucket of Costa to avoid doing this again next year. :/

I'm glad your cousin's made it in though. *squish*

'Pass them on' or 'get mugged for them at midnight'? XD

... I honestly thought you'd had a Damn You Autocorrect moment there. XD
