'Thunk' is a good sound...
Mar. 30th, 2005 10:14 pmAfter the disaster that was last week's archery session (no, don't ask about my score, really), I decided that I definitely needed to go along to this week's coaching session. Now, one of the problems last week might have been my bow - one of the coaches last week took one look at it and declared it knackered. It's one that I've been borrowing from the club so my only worry was that I'd killed it - they reassured me that I hadn't done anything. Phew! So this week the club guy with the club bows brought along a different bow for me to use. Best bit? I got to take it home with me! Yup, there is a bow and half a dozen arrows secreted away beneath my wardrobe. Because I really am paranoid about anyone accidentally stumbling across my lethal weapon *g*
New bow is a little different to my previous bow - heavier draw but a little longer (64" and 24lb, if anyone is wondering). But it works so much better. My shoulders are a little sore, but I'll toughen up. I was struggling with my previous bow at the beginning *g* I managed to get all my arrows in the target and was getting pretty neat groupings. I was even hitting what I aimed at. Woo! Coaches confirmed that there's nothing wrong with my stance, pull or release so last week was probably a combination of knackered bow and frazzled Sel.
Tomorrow is club night, the last night of serious indoor shooting, and I am determined that the new bow and I will be getting a respectable score. Yay!
I should really start keeping a record of my writing progress again. I can report that there are no new words on Mage Murders because I haven't touched it for two months. That will be remedied this weekend, hopefully. Sequel to Serpent is progressing well, although I didn't write anything yesterday and I won't tonight because I'm re-reading Serpent. Damn, that thing is long. But Sequel to Serpent will probably be just as long, what with the plot and the characterisation and stuff. It's already creeping up to 10,000 words...
