This morning I beat the school bus. Woo! Definitely leaving by 7.04AM in the future.

Today is a "Moar caffeine needed OMG!!" kind of day. I blame Tumblr and AO3. Horrible, evil sites. Why must there be so much good stuff to look at and read when I'm supposed to be sleeping?

A couple of months ago I was feeling slightly sad about having no fannish t-shirts that were a) less than five years old and b) small enough to fit me.

Now I've got two Doctor Who t-shirts and a Son of Coul (Avengers) shirt will shortly be winging its way to me from Ript. I'm deeply tempted by a Black Widow shirt (this one, for the interested) that I've seen on another site. Why no Hawkeye love, t-shirt guys? Apparently this is going to be the year of the fannish t-shirt. I should feel embarassed about that, right?

The zombie novel is done and I am uncertain about what to read next, although I think that I'll be going for another Hugo read rather than a book of mindless fluff, even though mindless fluff appeals greatly right now. Whatever I read needs to be zombie-free, not even a surprise zombie, so that I get a brain-breather and stop having zombie nightmares.

My count of graphic novels waiting at the library is now up to 5 and I'm hoping that at least one of the three outstanding holds will be there tomorrow. Mum has been talked into volunteered to pick them up for me while she's shopping tomorrow :-) In my defence, there are several Fables volumes so they are totes Hugo related.

Avengers Ultimates and Black Widow: Deadly Origins not so much. Heh.

I find I am taking advantage of B&N's agreement with Marvel - i have now bought several graphic novels for the Nook. And then there are the three print ones that I got at a comic shop while I was visiting my parents in Albuquerque, which my mum insisted on paying for and which I finished on the plane ride home. We won't mention the two dozen or so that I just ordered for the library.

At least, between the Avengers movie and the Avengers and Young Justice cartoons, I have been inspired to catch up on the backlog of comics which have just been accumulating on my dresser. There were some from 2006. D:

I <3 We Love Fine, though I haven't bought anything from them since NYCC.

Oh, and I meant to tell you that Lunacon is happening next year. There isn't much up on the website yet, but hopefully they'll be announcing guests soon.

There is also New York Comic Con in the fall (which is not a traditional sf con but is also near enough to commute), but if you want to do that you need to get your ticket now.

My path was indirect - Movies -> cartoons -> reading backlog of comics and buying new ones. And now they've ended the cartoon that was my gateway drug. :(

I have a T-shirt scale of measurement for involvement in a given fandom. A lot of things I like enough to have one shirt referencing them. Things I really like rate two or even three. When it becomes my primary fandom I'm comfortable with having enough shirts to get through an entire week.

So far I only have one Avengers shirt this design, on a maroon shirt) and could stand to have several more. WeLoveFine has a lot of designs I like, but they do cost a bit, so I watch Shirtoid on Tumblr to see if a good one's popping up on a one-day-only site. (I thought about getting Son of Coul yesterday, but decided against it. Getting down to the bottom of the paycheck again.)

Significant portions of my T-shirt wardrobe have been coming from TeeFury. I'm wearing one right now I got for $12 a few weeks ago from can't-remember-where -- no, it was from woot.com. My second ASoIaF/Game of Thrones shirt.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the "stealth fandom" shirts -- the ones that just look attractive and interesting, but that don't proclaim what I'm a fan of to anyone who doesn't themself watch the show or whatever-it-is. (In my case, almost definitely a legacy of having my interests made fun of by people whose own "fandoms" were more mainstream and hence "socially acceptable.")
