Some days I love the in depth stuff that I get on LJ and DW.

Then I get days when all I want is LOL cats and silly gifs. That seams to be where Tumblr fits :-)

Even when it comes to comic strips, I usually default to the sort with more text. I do have one or two "cute bunny of the day" feeds and that's usually enough to scratch the silly gif itch for me. On the rare occasions I want more, I know where to look. :)
