Ugh, my achy legs (worth it though)
Apr. 30th, 2012 10:05 pmI spent most of Saturday walking around the city. I'm feeling it today. Despite yoga and the recumbant bike all winter, it turns out that the muscles that I use for walking (particularly hill walking - lots of hills on Saturday) are not being exercised as much as I thought.
Ouch.
The good thing is that I felt really good on the hills, not crazy tired or out of breath. So at least I know that my stamina and cardio state are good. The winter weather may not make hiking a pleasant possibility, but I'm happy that I've kept in shape and actually improved that area.
I'm going to be doing a lot of walking while I'm in England. Not just as a result of all the things that I'm doing, either. My parents live in a lovely area with a lot of great country walking very nearby and I intend to get out for a good long walk any day that I'm not out and abouting, weather permitting. It's something that I miss when I'm not there. So I probably need to get myself out for a decent walk a couple more times before I go so that things are loosened up a bit.
The weather today is gorgeous. I'm kind of tempted to take myself out for a good walk after work rather than hitting the bike.
The purpose of all the walking on Saturday was to buy myself a spring coat and some new shoes. I'm fairly sure that returning with mini cheesecakes, shortbread and croissants but no shoes or coat makes that trip a bit of a failure...
