Um, yes, I've not been doing well with regular reviewing, have I? I blame the uncertainty of my computer, which now seems to be having more Mcafee issues (argh) and may also be having some problems with the connection to an external monitor. I'm typing this on the family computer because I couldn't face the thought of trying to bully my laptop into behaving today.

Anyway.

RTD's season finales always left me an emotional wreck. The first one was brilliant and left me on a huge high, the rest left me in tears and rather more upset than anyone should get over a TV show.

Moffat's season finales are wonderful because they've left me on such a huge, happy, excited high. Even though Amy, Rory and River's stories are now done and they're unlikely to be back, I'm still happy and high because of they way that their stories were left. Whatever else may have been wrong with season 6 (and I agree that it had some big wobbles in places) this episode was brilliant and I loved it.

I'm not even sure that I can count all the ways that I loved it, there were too many. The Indiana Jones tribute, the beautiful scene where the Doctor is told of the Brigadier's death, the fantastic interactions between the various characters, the insanely wacky results of time fracturing - they were all fantastic. The wedding was surprisingly beautiful and I put that down to some great acting by Matt Smith and Alex Kingston.

In the middle of all that, we've got some terrific hints about what is coming up next year (the fall of the eleventh? The question) and Matt Smith's lovely, enigmatic smile at the question "Doctor Who?".

It left me happy, high, and thoroughly impatient for the Christmas special and the next series. Well done, everyone!

Apparently Amy and Rory are going to be around next season, though perhaps not as the full-time companions -- at least, word is that they've signed contracts. I don't know about River, though I believe there may be some more of the arc to go with the whole "question will be asked" / Plain of Wherever-it-was thing.

Agreed on the delight of the episode (though I had a DVR glitch that froze up during the Doctor and River's wedding and then the recording picked back up in mid-commercial after the scene ended -- I had to find out later from LJ comments that apparently they kissed).
