When it's the end of September, I think it's a bit ridiculous that I'm tired and nauseous due to excessive night-time temperatures stopping me sleeping and possibly giving me heat-stroke. I'm just sayin'.

I'm not saying that I want winter to come or anything, but sunny days and much cooler nights would be very nice.

Rather than continuing my grumpy vent, let us discuss season premiers.

Spooks

Hmm, I'm not sure how I feel about Harry having an Epic Great Love before Ruth, but I'm interested in seeing where it goes. The new section chief has a very "temporary because we know it's ending" feel to her, but hopefully we'll get to know her a bit better despite the temporariness.

As always, quite the dense plot and the opener was obviously setting up the major threads for the season. Next week (er, yesterday) will hopefully be a little faster-moving and that's my only criticism. I'm going to miss Spooks.

NCIS

I watch this show for the crack, pure and simple. So it's nice to have a slightly deeper plot (sometimes, not too frequently) and I enjoyed the "what I did in my summer holidays" traditional opener.

As with most season premiers, the main point was to set up the themes and ideas for the year and I'm very intrigued by where they're going with this super secret watcher database thing. Nice to see all the characters on fine form and I'm already getting good vibes for this year.

Glee

Oh, Glee, how are you so inconsistent? How are you so brilliant and so cringe-worthy in the same episode?

So, er, nothing new there then.

There was a bit of awkward sorting out of which grade everyone is, obviously so that we have a few characters staying into season 4 when the main ones will go, and the first big number didn't work for me, but otherwise I enjoyed this a lot. Kurt and Rachel needed that dose of reality about their plans and the relative talents of other applicants to musical theatre programs. I'm going to be interested to see how Blaine's assimilation to McKinley will be done. Hopefully Santana's story is going somewhere interesting.

Quinn's change seems a bit weird and out of nowhere, but it looks like that's going to be handled next week so I'm reserving judgement. Overall, a reasonably solid beginning and a great finishing number so I'm looking forward to the year.

I need to watch S1 of Downton Abbey so that I can start watching S2. CSI:NY and Grey's Anatomy are on my PVR to watch and I think that's it for season premiers. The rugby-watching schedule should ease up a lot now that we're getting to the end of the pool stages so I may start getting the time to watch things and do the necessary catch-up on things I'm behind on.

And I'm finally within 100 pages of the finishing post on Perdito Street Station. Definitely going for a lighter, shorter read next as a cleanser from that thing.
