Random Tuesday stuff
May. 3rd, 2011 06:42 pmA few things:
- Argh, a Conservative majority. Canada, what were you thinking?
- At least Jack Layton and the NDP should be an effective opposition and they may be able to reign in the worst of it. Maybe?
- I love being able to read the Independent on my Kindle. So much win.
- The Indy has tons of indepth, thoughtful analysis on the Bin Laden thing and the ramifications. My day is filled with Middle East politics.
- It's Humira day! Woo!
- I am treating myself to a chocolate bar (probably a Wispa) after administering the Humira. Because I forgot to plan any other yummy treat. Must so better next time.
- I have a stonking headache today. It's epic. I suspect it's because my upper back was being more niggly and annoying last night. Grr.
- One of my bosses keeps expressing surprise that I'm only a programmer analyst and hinting that he'll have words to fix that. Does this mean I'll get a promotion this year rather than next year?
- This week, my morning biscuits with my morning tea are custard creams. There is nothing that is not made better by a custard cream.
- Also, smoked Jarlsberg is teh nom.
- At least half my daily thoughts are still on food, it seems. At least they're positive food thoughts :-)
- So far, I've read 33 books this year. I think that makes it quite likely that I'll make it to 75 with no problems. Would I be crazy to shoot for 100?
- So far, I've had six blood draws this year. I'm not sure that I like this record, though.
- I'm thinking that I may soak in the jacuzzi tonight for a while before doing the Humira thing. It might get this silly headache under control!

Date: 2011-05-03 09:45 pm (UTC)Jacuzzi sounds like an excellent idea. (We don't have anything like that, but sometimes a good hot shower seems to help lessen my headaches.)

Date: 2011-05-03 09:49 pm (UTC)That's what's scary. I'm going to have two more (at least) finished by the end of this week. And then I'll start to really believe that I can do it. Oh, no, I can hear most of my friends and family crying at the thought of me trying to read more...

I am going to miss it so much when I have to give this house back to my parents. The work out earlier didn't make my head any worse, so I know this isn't a migraine, which means that that the warmth and jets and so on should help a lot.

Date: 2011-05-04 11:45 am (UTC)on blood draws - I feel your pain, I did 3 months of weekly draws followed by six months of monthly ones. It sucked, although because of the type of problem mine were able to be done at the children's hospital which at least was convenient and much faster.
on the headache - I hope the bath helped. Headaches suck.

Date: 2011-05-07 05:25 pm (UTC)The bath and more tylenol helped the headache. That's a good thing because a lot of people get headaches after taking Humira (so far, I don't) and I didn't want to go into my Humira jab with a headache.
And then I had another one today :-( So far, working out and eating a good lunch seem to have helped. Headaches suck so much. Particularly the ones that turn into migraines and that's what I generally am trying to avoid when I've got a bad one. Ugh.

Date: 2011-05-04 11:16 am (UTC)*nods* Jarlsberg generally is teh nom. I hope the jacuzzi helps the headache, and that you enjoy your Wispa :)
As for the new/old Government *facepalm*. It doesn't seem to matter what country you live in, all politicians and all voting masses are very similar. 40% no-show? Come on! You can't complain about the result if you don't even vote.
