Unemployed again
Jan. 6th, 2005 10:27 amFor a couple of days it was all looking so good. I had a job that (I was told) would last at least six weeks and therefore I'd have a steady income for a while. It would reduce the stress while I look for something permenant.
Yesterday I was told that the company I was temping for had been assigned two permenant members of staff from head office, starting today. Unfortunately that meant there was no need to keep me *sigh* Apparently it's not a reflection on my work, but that doesn't make me feel any better about losing a good contract. It seems that the branch I'd been with had been trying to get permanent staff for nine months, they'd finally got permission to find a temp (me) and then head office stuck their beaks in and recruited without telling the branch. Woo.
So it's back to the agencies. I've emailed my CV to two more (does nobody want to meet me?), but apparently neither of them have had any temp work in this week so they're not hopeful. Goody.
Looking on the bright side (because I always try to find one), this does give me more time to write job applications and get some things done that I didn't have time for in December. So, y'know, for now it's not a disaster.
