Decisions, decisions
Mar. 20th, 2009 08:12 amMy plan tomorrow to have a completely lazy day - possibly never getting out of my pyjamas - until I go out to fetch my aunt for supper have been rather derailed. Instead I'm sleeping in, fetching my aunt to run some errands and then going to lunch with her.
But fear not! This should instead mean that I'm going to have a thoroughly lazy afternoon and evening. As it's been a while (read, over a year) since I watched any of the Lord of the Rings movies, I thought I'd use this as an excuse :-) I'm also planning to do a re-read because I missed last year's and listening to the soundtrack in the car has got me buzzing to actually read the books. First, though, it's movie time.
And now the critical question - which one? Obviously they're all extended editions, that goes without saying. Fellowship has the value of being beautiful and being the first, so there would be momentum to it. Return of the King has been watched least often by me and it's incredible. If I start with Fellowship then I'll be watching in order, but I'm not sure when I'll next have enough free time to watch Two Towers and I really want to get to Return of the King.
Help me, f-list! You're my only hope :-)

ETA: Fellowship it is, then!

Date: 2009-03-20 04:52 pm (UTC)One day, I'm thinking of telling a big fat porkie and claiming that I'll be out of town all weekend so nobody can ask me to go anywhere, do anything or call me. Then I'll have a movie weekend :-) But I'm incapable of doing that, it seems.

Date: 2009-03-20 05:03 pm (UTC)I have no problem telling people I am busy doing things with myself. I need that weekend time. Plus sometimes the things people want me to do I can't afford or am not interested in anyway. Like this weekend I am missing out on a road trip to New Glasgow to see some bands. Oh well. There will be other chances. But hey I went to knitting this week!

Date: 2009-03-20 05:40 pm (UTC)I try to only have an hour (maybe two if I'm feeling particularly tired) with the TV on weeknights. The rest of the time is for housework, writing and catching up on emails. Then there are the evenings when I'm out knitting, going to odd church events or socialising.
I'm very bad at saying no to people who want to do things on weekends because it makes me feel guilty and selfish. Particularly when my only reason for refusing is that I want a quiet day at home! If it's because I genuinely can't afford something then I'll get out of it, but if it's because I don't enjoy the suggested activity or I want some me time, then I can't make myself say no. It's also the one time of the week when I can bake and do serious cooking, which takes up lazy time even further.
Thus most of my weekends get consumed with doing stuff and I never really just sit and relax. It's something I need to work on :-)

Date: 2009-03-21 03:17 pm (UTC)It´s about balance. I need to say yes more and be more productive around the house like you. But maybe you could say no more and be a bit lazier like me :P Want to life swap for a day?
I´d like to change the notion that being selfish is bad. If that´s the case, then I´m shamelessly selfish and don´t care what anyone thinks! RAR!
