I am weak

OK, I give in. I went out and shovelled this morning (that was definitely more than 5cm!) and then I came inside and called around to get quotes for snow removal. I am done with shovelling. My back won't take any more.

Should I feel guilty about being weak? Because I suddenly feel like a weight has been removed from me instead. Heh.

And now I must eat some lunch and go to a baby shower!

Hardly. Given your back problems, if it were up to me, I would have forbidden you to try in the first place. Shovelling snow is very hard on the back.

I hadn't originally planned to do any shovelling, but then the first snowfall came way before I was prepared for it and I figured that if every other Canadian can do it then so can I.

Except there are a lot of people who don't shovel and my back has been getting crankier and crankier about this, so I've given up. It's just not worth it any more. I'm gonna pay someone else to do it. At least now I don't need to look at the weather forecast with a sense of complete dread every time there is snow predicted and I might actually not hate winter completely :-)

You didn't grow up in an area that has a lot of snow. People underestimate how difficult it is to shovel. We get warnings every year about correct posture and the need to not overdo it.
