It's been snowing today!
OK, it's been wet nasty slushy snow, but it's still my first white stuff of the year :-)
It was quite nasty driving home, but I did it safely unlike a lot of people. I'm told that the first snow is usually the worst for crashes because everyone has forgotten how to do it, so I feel quite proud to have come through without a problem. Buying snow brushes for my car and getting the winter tyres on a couple of weeks ago appears to have been a brilliant idea.
The only bad bit was that I had to put the garbage out tonight and by the time I got home, it was snow mixed with freezing rain. That is not pleasant. We also had a lot of wind today and, although my garbage can kept its lid through Sunday's not-a-hurricane, it didn't survive today. And somewhere in the neighbourhood is a bag of dirty cat litter - how the hell did something that heavy blow away?? Er, plus a couple of bungee chords that blew away when I was trying to secure everything in the dark. It was a long, traumatic putting-out-of-garbage and required trips back into the house for bungee chords, thermal gloves (when trying to do things by feel, one requires feeling in one's hands) and new garbage sacks.
But I did it. And now I plan to spend the evening in the warmth with some knitting, my kittens and Holby City.
