Still on a high from the election. Go Obama!

In slightly worrying news, four of my userpics have been randomly changed to pictures that I know I didn't upload. Is anyone else having this issue?

Is this the first sign that someone has hacked my account? *trembles*

It's happened to me. It seems to be a livejournal glitch that fixes itself. I no longer have a link to where I saw people commenting about it thouhg.

I've had several lj friends who have had this happen to them. From what I was reading last night (but I forget who's lj, sorry), it's an lj glitch which has been happening recently. What's even weirder is that people with different local servers will see different userpics, and some will see the one that's supposed to be there. I'm trying to remember what they suggested as a fix.

Um, log out and back in? Clear your cache? (IT people ALWAYS want you to do that when something screws up--I have yet to see it work.) And if that doesn't work, they suggest you put in a ticket with the helpdesk, er, I mean contact lj.

I was having drive-by friending problems. Turns out that WAS hackers and lj is keeping an eye on my account. They're deleting all these new "friends" of mine whose journals are in the Cyrillic alphabet.

LJ is one thing that cache can make a difference for - although f5 also does the job, its a good first thing to check but yeah - it won't cure any real problems.

Did you contact LJ about this? I've been getting a lot of that recently, and locked my lj because of it - and they gradually disappeared on their own. Now I'm wondering if I should have done something more?

You mean the drive by friending? Yes, I did contact lj about it around six weeks ago. I had read an article in USA Today that said hackers are using Facebook and Myspace to plant malicious code and hijack your PC. I started changing my password occasionally and I try to remember to log out when I go out of town for a few days. (I REALLY don't want to log out every time, but I will if I have to.)

Once I realized that the everytime I had a "new" Cyrillic friend, the "old" Cyrillic friend disappeared, I realized it must be the same person and I decided to contact lj. Within two days the Cyrillic account was cancelled. LJ sent me a message saying, "Thank you for your report. Upon review, we have suspended this journal for violations of our Terms of Service."

A Cyrillic account friended me again a couple days later and by the time I got home to read the friending message, that account was cancelled too. I'm assuming lj is keeping an eye out. LJ was checking and paying attention, too, because another unknown person friended me (abydos somebody) and I was a bit concerned. But when I went to their lj it was in English and they seem to be a Stargate fan. LJ did NOT cancel them.

Sorry to hijack your comments post, Sel. But you are right to worry and check it out when goofy things happen. It seems there is always someone out there ready to screw things up for us if they can. I'm happy my lj pics seem to be the right ones--so far anyway!

Yeah, I've had that happen with at least one of my userpics. Don't know the reason, but I don't think it's a hacked account thing. At least I *hope* not!

I've never seen it (but then I rarely seen LJ icons, so that's probably got something to do with it), but it's an almost daily occurrence on one of my comms, given the number of posts I've seen about it.

It's never happened to me - but then I did have the mysterious 'don't show my birthday any more' problem.
