Meet Kate and Annie

Over lunch, Mum and I discussed names for the kittens and we've come up with ones that we're both happy with.

June, the little short-hair, is now called Kate. The foster mum thought she looked like a Katherine. We couldn't call her that for various reasons, but we decided that Kate worked for her. It was pretty and dignified, which suited her perfectly. It turns out that she's not quite so dignified as she appeared - she goes crazy for a little raccoon on elastic and can play with a bit of dangled ribbon for ages.

Kate still works for her, though :-)

Jewly has been renamed Annie. She's a bit of a tom boy and very curious and she reminds us of Anne of Green Gables.

After a busy afternoon they're both have a nap somewhere - probably under my chair! They seem to like sleeping under the recliners. I can tell that I'll need to be careful every time I stand up from now on.

I have three right now that I'm looking for homes for. They're all so incredibly cute and sweet and annoying and maddening. :-) Three little gray stripes that drive us absolutely batty, but have one of the local toms wrapped around their pointy little paws. Their mom is done with 'em ("you're weaned, fuck off" ;-), so I guess he's decided they're his and he's taken them to raise. I'm just getting tired of stepping over them constantly. :-) This little knot of kitten that just keeps getting bigger and bigger and louder and pointier. :-)

Aw, they sound very cute. As does the surrogate daddy! But yes, finding homes for them could be fun. The local shelter is on shut-down due to too many cats and not enough adoptive owners, which is sad because I know that people are just going to abandon animals to die until the shelter can start accepting them.

I just wish that people would get their animals spayed/neutered unless they want to breed *sigh*

I have an apartment full of (well, sometimes, they run in and out) of strays who come here to eat, to find a little affection, hole up when their hurt (and have to endure my doctoring ;-) and generally hang out in bad weather. Most of the time, they don't venture very far out of the kitchen/dining room.

Hey, they keep the rat population in the complex down. :-)

But I do seem to have a problem with "their" and "they're". *sigh* Homophones can be so sneaky sometimes!
