I have a good days and I have bad days, but for some reason I find it much harder to have bad days when the sun is shining.

Sometimes I forget why I like England. Yes, I'm emigrating to Canada one day, but England still has its good points. Most of the time I get great amusement from complaining about where I live, the crappy public transport, the eternal rain and the fact that I have to drive twenty miles to get any decent shops. Then I get a beautiful day, I go into town to do a few chores and I remember the good things. Saturday is market day here, so it can quite busy. Saturday in the summer on a lovely day means that tons of people head into town to shop and eat in the cafes or on the green outside the church. Today there was also a Punch and Judy show on the green and the local dahlia society was meeting - very colourful. There was also a parade through town with councillors in their robes, a town cryer, navy folks in dress uniform...don't ask me what the parade was for, but it was nice and colourful. Very English and rather fun.

I spent the afternoon reading the next part in [livejournal.com profile] riverfox's Intervals series. Very good afternoon :-) Still didn't get the streaming video paper written, but after reading that, do I really care? :-)

Isn't Eurovision fun?

At the beginning of the evening, I would have said that the Ukraine didn't stand a chance. It was the kind of entry I look forward to - ridiculous costumes, insane song and plenty to mock. Picture escapees from a Xena set dancing and stomping enthusiastically while singing a song called "Wild Dances" and you have the Ukraine's winning entry :-)))

Methinks the Balkan block voting might have had an influence there.

It is annoying catchy, though. I'm still humming it. Guh.

My prize for the best eye candy goes to Albania, which may explain their surprising vote tally. I don't think she was quite as bad as last year's UK entry, but it was a close run thing. Thankfully three-quarters of it was inaudible due to the dodgy sound mixing and I could watch without needing to cover my ears too often ;-)

I was more than a little stunned by Greece's performance in the voting. Picture the Greek offspring of Ricky Martin :-) Somebody more qualified might be able to tell me whether this was due to the eye candy factor.

I thought that Cyprus, Germany, France and the UK (no, it's not particularly biased - I thought last year's entry was dreadful but James Fox is good singer, a good live performer and I liked the song) had particularly strong entries, so naturally they didn't do as well as I thought they would. Considering how many European countries we've pissed off with illegal wars and our over-close relationship with the current American administration, I'm pretty amazed that we did as well as we did, but a couple of years ago James Fox would have been in the top three if he hadn't won.

Eurovision voting is just too weird. Terry Wogan's comments make the whole thing (particularly the votes from thiry-six tone deaf countries) more bearable. And funnier :-)

Anyone outside Europe can go here to find out what the heck I'm talking about and subject yourself to the videos, if you're brave enough ;-))

I think my good mood might have been aided by the discovery this morning that Piers Moron Morgan has been sacked :-) I'll admit that one or two of his stunts have had a point (sneaking a footman into the Palace triggered an investigation in Palace security - probably a long overdue one). Publishing those pictures in the Daily Mail - dodgy at the time of publishing and now proved to be faked - was a stupid decision and there was no way anyone could keep him on. I didn't support the decision to go to war, but I can't support anything that needlessly puts our troops into even more danger. Guh.

Unfortunately, Private Eye will no longer have as many excuses to mock him. Darn.

I'm glad today was a good day :) I really can't wait until you immigrate to Canada. That way we will only be one country apart instead of an entire ocean :P~

As to Joy's Intervals...wooo mama!! Can she write, or what?! Damn that girl rocks!!

And for your last part...what the frell are you talking about?
