Just a quick update...

selenayMore later, but I'm having a great time over here. We're going out to some furniture stores in a little while to scout stuff like beds, chairs, sofas and desks. All very useful stuff and it will give me a better idea of what I'll be looking for in the summer.
I've decided that I want a good computer desk with drawers and shelves to put things on, as I will have the space for such a device and it will make me so much tidier than I currently am. I also want a really comfy armchair. So I shall be trying stuff out :-)
Last night, I got my wish and there was snow. So beautiful and quite different to my experiences in England. The bit that got me this morning is that even though we're on a small, quiet street way off the main thoroughfares, the snowplough had already been through and the roads are clear. There simply aren't ploughs in Britain except for the odd one or two in Scotland and even the main roads rarely get gritted or salted. The snow last night would have caused chaos today in England yet it's business as usual over here. It makes me a bit more confident about deal with winter to know that after the snow has stopped falling, the roads will be quickly made safe.
The only bad thing? Torchwood tonight and I can't watch it :-( I will have to avoid all spoilers until I get back to England next week. Waah!

Date: 2008-02-06 02:04 pm (UTC)I know here, the plows try their best, but there's still one crazy day a year, after the first snowfall, when everyone forgets how to drive. After that, though, it generally settles down again until the next winter.

Date: 2008-02-06 09:06 pm (UTC)I can imagine that the first snow day is pretty bad for people forgetting how to drive, but I'm feeling happier now that it's nothing like England and for the most part it's not too crazy here in winter.
