Filtering the spreadsheet that I auto-load each week is Not Helpful. Particularly when you haven't filtered that spreadsheet at any time in the twenty weeks that I have been auto-loading so I did not think to attempt to counteract that particular brand of idiocy in my coding.
Yes, I probably should have tried to anticipate something like this but, as usual, I was not given the time to think up every possible input error so I settled for anticipating the most obvious problems. This was not one of them.

I have made myself a promise that, whatever I end up doing for paid employment in Canada, it will not be like this job. I will want semi-regular hours so that I can ocassionally plan something after work and have a hope of being there on time. Overtime is inevitable in most jobs for which I am qualified but it would be nice if overtime was a rarer occurrence so that 4 days out of 5 I get to leave at an anticipated time. At the moment I get to leave at my usual time as much as twice a month (wow!) and the days that I end up here the latest are always the days when I was supposed to be doing something after work. I would also like overtime caused by minions who do not understand the concept of their boss wanting to leave the building to be eliminated completely.
On the bright side, tonight is slob out night with an evening of Holby City and CSI to look forward to. I also have the ingredients (OK, jar) for curry because my curry-hating mother is going out for a meal tonight. There shall be king prawn massala (sp?), rice and naan bread which will be yummy.
And having got to work 15 minutes early, I shall be leaving at 4pm if I have to kill people to do it!
