Dear Idiot in Communications,

It was lovely to receive your email yesterday. Such an informative one. Yes
I can stop sending out those reports and save them to a folder on the
network instead. In fact, that's an easy change.

However, when you send an email like that you should be able to tell me
where the hell that network folder is. Telling me to get access to it from
IT is a good idea, but not helpful because their first question is "what is
the path to the folder?"

And their response to "Um, I don't know, but I think that it's called xxx"
tends to be "we can't do anything until we know the network path".

Please to me know what the hell you are talking about before sending me
anymore snotty emails, kthx.

No love,
Me

Why do I work with so many certifiable idiots?

But clearly you thought it was a good idea!"

Forward the email to IT asking sweetly if, based on the content of said email, they could let you have the appropriate access please. When they reply asking for more details, forward said reply on to the person in communications and await their reply. Lather, rinse, repeat... At least then IT will know (probably already know) that it's the comms person who's the idiot and not you, especially if you phrase your original request carefully... :-)

And if you're feeling *really* snarky, copy the idiot's boss at the same time.

See, when you follow [livejournal.com profile] gmul's excellent advice you go from being a whining loser to a facilitator. :-) And the loser is clearly seen to be the idiot of the first part.

Now you see I'd be inclined to not cc in the persons boss too soon. More useful for after you've done a couple of rounds of "facilitating" (so kind of you to say so BTW) and give the idiot a decent amount of rope to hang themselves with. Or, just possibly, a chance to learn and be more useful next time - you never know. Either way would be a result. :-)

True. Best not to go there too quickly. I was thinking mostly of the repeat offenders I deal with on far too regular a basis. :-)

Your support group doesn't take email requests?

Pardon me while I boggle for a bit.
