selenay: (grin)
After last week's whiny, crabby, grumpy persona I've decided that I need to not do that. It's a New Year and I should be looking at the positive, at what I'll change for the good, rather than looking for the down side. I felt thoroughly miserable and depressed last week and that definitely isn't going help me find the positive things in 2008.

So I must resist the temptation to keep writing depressed, whiny, complaining entries in here. Or if I do need to write one, I also need to find a positive thing to balance it out.

I've written a list of things that I want to do before I leave England in August. It's sort of like a New Year's resolution, but not really. I shall post the list here when I get home so that I can start ticking things off.

I had a fun weekend. Went up to London to meet up with my sister and hit the sales in Liberty's to buy Christmas baubles. I've got a dozen beautiful ones to add to the collection that I bought last year: my first Christmas tree in Canada is going to look beautiful. In a couple of weeks I'll be back in London to spend book tokens in Foyles (all of us received some so we'll be doing a family trip) and hopefully it will be marginally less crowded then!

I seem to have rather a lot of things planned this month: Foyles, a meal with The Girls for a birthday, a trip to the theatre to see Nutcracker and somewhere in there I'm supposed to start training for my ascent of Snowdon. Then February starts with a week in snowy Canada. Lots to look forward to although I'm starting to get that "so much to do, so little time to do it in!" feeling.
selenay: (goodbye to Rose)
Now that I can officially say that the move is happening this year (early August, for those who have missed the billion references to the date) I've started a list of things that I want to accomplish before I leave the country. I thought that it might be a good idea to a) list them here and b) post an account of the event when I do it. I shall try to tag everything connected to this under a "to do in england" tag for those who want to follow along.

And so, the list of what I want to accomplish in my remaining months as a UK citizen:

1. Take tea at Claridges.
2. Go on the London Eye.
3. Climb Snowdon.
4. Visit Bletchley Park.
5. Visit the British Libary.
6. Go to see Cats at my local theatre.
7. Visit the Natural History museum and walk past the bloody huge dinosaur in the lobby without a blind-fold.
8. Eat dim sum in Chinatown.
9. Watch a session of the Commons.
10. Compete in an archery tournament.
11. Visit Cambridge.
12. Climb the Camera Obscura in Oxford.
13. Get together with convention/fandom friends.
14. Visit [livejournal.com profile] historyterry (preferably more than once).
15. Visit York Minster and the Shambles.
16. Visit London Zoo.

This list may be edited, updated and added to as time goes by, but I think that's a good start for the just over seven months that I have. Obviously, feel free to throw more suggestions at me if you have any and I'll see what I can fit in...
