Well, this is strange
Aug. 28th, 2007 09:19 amYesterday was a bank holiday so there was no work - hooray! This usually
means that Tuesday becomes my Monday with all the associated stresses
because nothing works the way it should over the bank holiday, no matter how
carefully you plan it. All the reports that should run while I'm out and
therefore be waiting for me to work on when I get in usually fail, there is
usually some huge data warehouse outage and generally Tuesday ends up being
like Monday, only more stressful.
So what the hell happened this time?
All my reports ran correctly. There were no outages. The power stayed on all
weekend. I got in this morning to find that every single report had run
exactly as it should.
It's...weird.
The big report that I'm usually waiting hours for on Monday, that ensures I
can't do any real work until 11pm (at earliest) and generally buggers up my
day...was ready for me when I got in. I've already ploughed through a
reasonable chunk of it. If things keep going at this pace, it's entirely
possible that I will be at the stage that I'm usually at on a Tuesday
evening despite not being here on Monday.
This makes me wonder whether there is any actual point in me coming into
work on Monday, of course. Oh, well.
I am less lurgied than I was, but still not feeling right *sigh* And also
totally exhausted because my bastard of a neighbour did not stop with the
DIY all weekend! Lurgy!Sel + no sleep = tired, dopey Sel.
This may be why I just had hysterical giggles when a report fell off the
wall. It was the slow motion descent of the huge piece of paper that a
colleague had so carefully tacked to the wall that really got me, but I
don't usually go into hysterics like that.
Is it the weekend yet?
