So mum has gone away for the week to cook for a bazillion children (well, OK, only 40. But I'm sure it will feel like a bazillion by Friday) and her parting shot was "oh, hey, Sel..."

Um, she may not have actually called me Sel. But roll with this one.

"Oh, hey, Sel, did you know that endometriosis can cause IBS-like symptoms?"

So I did a bit of Googling and she was right :-( I was diagnosed with edometriosis when I was seventeen. I've always had certain stomach/bowel problems right around my cycle that I assumed were just me being me.

Over the last few months, I've been getting those problems to a greater degree all month long. Yay for me.

Rheumy confirmed that it sounded rather IBS-like to him but obviously the only way to be sure that it's IBS and not some other thing is with cameras. Inside me.

Er, no. I think that I've had more than enough scans and x-rays over the last eighteen months. A camera up my whosit? No thanks. I'm relatively sure that this is uncomfortable (a bit beyond that some days) but nothing life-threatening. And believe me, it's gotta be life-threatening before I do that.

So it seems that I've got two conditions that both have a higher than normal incidence of IBS or IBS-like symptoms associated with them (hypermobility and endometriosis).

Honest to god, what were the odds of me not getting yicky stomach problems at some stage? It's like someone loaded the dice against me there. Have they perfected the full body transplant yet?

Mental note: stomach apparently does not like chickpeas. Bleh.

Today has been one of those sucky, icky, glad it's over days. Starting with the motorway being closed this morning (woo! late to work!) and ending with a stuffy, achey head all afternoon. So glad that it's time to go to bed. Is it nearly the weekend yet?

I need to go and find the fannish squee. I know that there is HP7 squee out there, but I've been too busy over the weekend to find it. I want a day to huddle in a chair reading fanfic. Maybe even writing fanfic. Mostly just reading it, though. I want comfort fanfic.

I'm always a bit suspicious of IBS diagnoses. But then that's because my doctor told me I had IBS and I should probably eat more dairy. I actually had a wheat intolerance and was really ill, but still, their blood test said there was nothing wrong with me. Hmmm.

I've never heard of diagnosing IBS with cameras. It seems to be a standard diagnosis based on the symptoms because the doctors haven't got a clue what else it is.

Not that I'm bitter and don't trust them at all, no...
