Tour de France stage 5 and great big puppies

Um, ow.

That was a complete heart in mouth stage and I am now rather concerned for Vino :-( I really hope that he can make the time up in the mountains, otherwise he's in real trouble. It looked like rather a painful crash and I understand that cut on his knee required stitches, which isn't going to make him feel great for the next few days. I am a little curious about the Tour organisation's decision to remove all the cars from the gap, particularly when the didn't do it for any of the other favourites. Then again, the Tour organisation have been known to make a lot of odd decisions over the years.

Sigh.

Kloden looked much better on the stage, but that fractured coccyx is not going to make riding easy. I think he might be getting even less sleep than Vino. Bad day all round for Astana.

On the up side, Cancellara really deserves to keep the yellow. That was an amazing ride he did, particularly for a guy who can't usually climb for beans. The stage was truly exciting and it was great to see it contested so well.

Now I've just got to see who starts today and what kind of shape they're all in.


One of the few good things about working at the head office of a major retailer is the presence of suppliers promoting their products. This usually results in samples for staff two or three times a month. Last week, it was a chocolate pudding company promoting some (utterly scrummy) new chocolate brownies. Those are the samples I love.

Today was...er...not chocolate.

On walking to the canteen, I was confronted by the man-sized company mascot. Today we were promoting bigger packs of a well-known brand of loo roll.

I have to say, the guy in a labrador puppy outfit was a little startling if you weren't expecting him.

There needs to be a rule that all Friday samples must be chocolate based.
