Books, fic, and that LJ stuff

I've been reading the posts to do with the FanLib debate, the LJ deletions and the other stuff that erupted over the last couple of weeks. No comments to make apart from the fact that I'm not moving from LJ unless fandom at large decamps and the FanLib project looks rather like a crappier FF.net out for profit. Yay.

I am rather intrigued by the potential outcomes of the fanarchive project.

And I have registered at fandom_counts - I had no idea there were so many of us out here! And considering that's probably only a proportion (you never get full participation in any of these things), it's even more impressive. Over 31K of us the last time I checked.

In books things, trying to read Mansfield Park while oogy is not a great plan. I've switched to Sense and Sensibility. Much less likely to hurt my poor hurty head. If I get stuck with that then I'll be retreating to nice, comforting Chalet School stuff.

In fic things, I read a comment a few days ago about Winifred Bambera and got hit by a plot bunny. Having rewatched Battlefield to be sure of my canon, I am now proceeding. Why is my first DW fic going to be about a minor character from the classic series?

Now I must re-introduce my stomach to normal food and start getting better properly.

Ah, I shall look forward to this, I loved Bambera. It also makes me feel a little better about the fact that my first Martha fic is going to be a total AU featuring Rose and Romana that will make sense to no one who is not me.

See, now that one sounds fascinating to me :-)

I now feel oddly comforted that my Bambera Five Things fic isn't going to be quite as odd as other fics out there :-) Except for the part where I need to reorganise the fic portion of my website to accommodate an accidental slide into writing a new fandom...

Thanks, honey. I'm actually feeling better today, except going out for a few minutes (picking up allergy meds and hitting a bookstore) turned out to be totally exhausting. It wasn't that big a deal! And Mum was helping! Methinks it's going to take a few days to get my stamina back.

Chronic nasty stuff is crappy. But hey, I have new books :-)

LOL That's what I said. Took about four days for my neck to stop spasming after my sojourn to the bookstore. Jeez. What pain we'll go through for books, I tell ya. ;) Glad you're feeling better, even if it's just a little. :)))

I had a look at your post and I'm fine with all the topics that you're discussing in your LJ :-) Any bits that I don't want to read, I can just skip past, but I've got absolutely no problem with it being discussed. In fact, some of the issues are things that need to be discussed in light of what's been happening and the directions that some fandoms have taken.
