When the travel girl on the radio begins her bulletin with, "Don't go anywhere in a car, on a road, in this country this evening" you know it's going to be bad.
*g* Yes, I was home in time (only just, it felt like) and it was incredibly funny :-) Very much a cure for sitting in the car going nowhere for over two hours!
Although the Cadbury's Mini Eggs that I was munching the whole way helped a little :-)
The traffic has usually started to calm down by then. I set out at 4.30pm, by which time the traffic had already built up pretty badly and it just seemed to get worse as the evening went on. I pulled in at my driveway around 7pm *sigh*
No idea where you're based but I know the feeling. One of the reasons I stayed home long enough to do one more iteration on the prosposal was that I realised that, by that stage, I'd hit peak traffic so might as well do something useful and just head out later!
My journey across Oxford and home was really smooth tonight, hardly any traffic on the roads. This morning wasn't too bad either, Fridays tend to be better than other weekdays.
It's been a bad week in general for my commute. This morning was really smooth, but this evening was a complete nightmare. I'd been having reasonable commutes for a few weeks so possibly I was due for a bad week. It still felt pretty crappy to be sitting in the car for that long, though.

Date: 2007-03-30 09:47 pm (UTC)The basic message was that there were no roads without jams. Ick. Sadly, I sat in one of those queues for over two hours and that wasn't fun!
