Atlantis: season finale

I am so glad that I ran away from spoilers as fas as my little feet would take me :-) This wouldn't have been nearly as cool if I'd known what was coming.


I enjoyed the episode, but it's the final ten minutes that really, really got me. I'd kind of half forgotten than the city had a stardrive and it was very cool to see her fly at last :-)

The bit that really got me, though, was when the beam got past the asteroid and the shield hadn't come up in time. I literally had my hands over my mouth, trying not to make strange squeaky sounds. Particularly seeing Elizabeth framed against the beam and watching the window explode over her.

Damn.

I'd been hoping that if I was possibly losing her as a series regular, it would be something I could bring her back from or at least write around :-( Very dramatic, but now I have to wait six months to find out what happens! Please to not be telling me whether I'm losing her totally or keeping her as a series irregular, thank you. I like the tension.

You can tell me, though, whether I'm getting to keep Jewel Staite. I mean, I'm assuming that you don't hire Jewel Staite for five minutes, putting her into potential main doctor role and then fire her, but...please, can I keep Jewel Staite? Pretty please? Sugar and cherries on top?

Not that I adore Jewel Stait or anything. But...she's Jewel Staite. So can we keep her, huh? Huh? Please?

I have read that Jewel is contracted for 10-14 episodes in Season 4.

Torri will be at the Creation convention in Vancouver next weekend, so I imagine I will be hearing a lot more about that--though I've heard stuff in spoilers already.

I've been religiously avoiding spoilers so I had no idea she was even going to be in the episode - very nice surprise. The only vague thing I've heard is something about Sam Carter next season, from which I deduced that Torri's role will be changing, but nothing more concrete. I think that I'm going to attempt to remain spoiler free - it's quite fun to see episodes without spoilers :-)

Duh, and PS. And I hadn't heard about the star drive either, so I thought it was extremely cool as well. Joe Flanigan had commented in an interview that the season ender would send Atlantis is a whole new direction--and either I'm remembering the quote incorrectly or he was making a double entendre. (g)

Or for all we know she's staying as a regular. I certainly haven't heard anything to the contrary (says she who is avoiding rumours).

Personally, I reckon the rumour going round is that she's going to wake up blonde.

I've been making the assumption, based on the one spoiler I do know about who is joining the cast next year, that she's being bumped down to either season irregular or not there at all. But I maintain hope :-) My assumption could be totally wrong!

I don't know that the one necessarily leads to the other, but you could be right.
